14. A great choice if you want a 49 state ass whoopin
I love her, but the only state I can say for sure she would carry would be NY. It's just not a good idea.

25. Hillary's a bad idea...
She has a real "Wicked Witch of the East" aura about her. Of course... maybe that'll go over well with the repukes. It just doesn't seem like a good matchup against the Wizard of Oz. Maybe if our soldiers click their heals twice, they'll be home?

No HILLARY.. Their's waaayyy too much mud to sling around on her.

2. Not sure how you can even
consider them coutnerparts. Hillary's a rather moderate, polite, hard-working Senator. Helms was a bigoted, nasty piece of crap.

5. So what?
Many americans strongly dislike Bush and he just won.

We have to STOP being afraid that the right-wing won't like our candidate. They're not going to like ANYBODY we choose, so let's just pick our own.

Hillary's approval rating is probably among the highest in the country. Yes, she has many detractors, but she has more fans.

11. "We have to STOP being afraid that the right-wing won't like
our candidate."

I agree. What's with that? Some Democrats worry more about repub opinion than their own base's opinion. It's really quite pathetic.

20. We have to STOP being ignorant of what moderates won't like
The way things are right now, any republican candidate will get at least 46% of the vote and any Democrat will get at least 46% of the vote. Ralph and his fellow fringies will get about 1-2% in total. You've got to find someone who'll get the lion's share of the 5-7% of the voters who will actually swing.

Our saving grace this next election may be that John McCain is too old to run for president. Unless, of course, he decides that 72 is NOT too old to run. I know you don't like anyone but the lefties and probably call McCain a fascist or some such silliness. But if we want to win, then we as a party can't be ignorant of the fact that McCain is very popular with many Democrats and the country as a whole is pretty darn conservative on a number of issues (due in part to Bush's misleadership).

Hold them all in contempt if you like, but don't be ignorant of the political environment that you live in. To deny reality is to risk extinction. Unless you're the president--but we still can hope, can't we?

21. It's a huge mistake to take the Democratic base for granted.
You say "any Democrat will get at least 46% of the vote" but I hear more & more people complaining that the Dems & Repubs are basically the same thing (Repub & Repub lite) and, because of this, they vote for a 3rd party candidate or they don't bother to vote at all. Personally, I think it's always a mistake to try to be bland & vague & wishy washy enough to appeal to everyone. If the Dems would run with a strong candidate & platform that excited the base, they'd get far more support than pandering to the right, hoping to lure away a vote or two.

15. Exactly, which is why Hillary Clinton should be our LAST choice
She's a hardworking Senator but too far to the right for most of us. She's a corporatist and doesn't appear to give a rip for working class folks beyond the few crumbs that occasionally drop off the DLC banquet table.

I think we can do better.

7. Running Hillary in 2008 will gaurantee another Republican win
The freeps that voted for Bush today will still be anti-Clinton
in 2008. We need somebody new.Somebody that Repugs and Dems have respect for.Don't know who that might be yet.

Maybe after four more years of Bush and the unchecked and untold havoc he will wreak upon us in this term the American public will be begging us for Hillary. I can dream can't I?

ETA: There were many who predicted dislike for her would keep her from winning her senate seat her in NY too. Lots of Upstaters are pukers, I'm ashamed to admit. We all know how good that prediction was.

Give em hell, Hillary. We NY libs just love ya! She gained a lot of respect here even in Upstate which is chuck full of pukers because she helped save a VA from being closed. She and Schumer worked their butts off and even the other side had to admit she did good. Heard a couple admitting they'd obviously misjudged her.

Good job NY. It almost makes me want to forgive my state for putting Pataki in office more than once.

The Republicans have defined themselves as the great dividers.

We need to be the uniters.

No way.

she helped TATA a major outsourcing company and as a result
helped export our jobs.

Absolutely no way is any anti-outsourcing group going to support that.
