BUSH going LEFT or RIGHT???... tell me what you think of my theory
Are we so sure that BUSH during his will please the right wing nuts that did put him there this time around? Are we so sure that he will put ultra conservative judges on the bench? Will he really use his "capital" to move as far right as possible? Well, my answer for this is no. Actually, I think that it's going to be quite the contrary.

I think that it would be political suicide to go far to the right when the center is available for grabs. ALSO... We have to think of what's coming next in 4 years. It's almost certain that Jeb will try to make history by being the third member of the same family to become president of the United States. So, if W goes back to the center and Jeb run a platform that promises to go back to moral values and crap, he will once again get the support of the religious base. Instead of waiting for a shift back to the center in 4 years after this presidency, you create a slight shift that allows you to restart again toward the right...

Well, I hope my take on this was clear even if it's quite simplistic on the explanation but remember people... this is my second language....

1. Political Suicide? Why would that bother him?
He can't run again anyway. This is his last chance to grab everything his grimy little hands can hold.

4. I think it's more complicated than that... Yes, he can't run again but
the republican party will do whatever it can to keep the power.... No? And the Bush dynasty would love to live on...

2. Yes, he will please the right wing nuts.
When he doesn't think he's God, he likes to think he's one of them and a lot of them did vote.

6. I think they'll go hard right.
I've too often heard this administration say one thing to please people, then do the exact opposite, if that is what they'd rather do.

This "accomodating the left" talk is just that. Talk.

Further, notice that after having the 2000 split win of the electoral votes without the popular votes, this administration claimed it had recieved a mandate. Now, after a barely scraped out 51% of the vote (the narrowest winning margin since Woodrow Wilson in 1916) Bush has said he has earned political capital, and he intends to spend it.

Fundamentalist judges, tax cuts for the richest americans, Patriot Act II, an amendment against gay marriage, all are on the way, courtesy of the political capital train, unless the democrats in DC grow a spine and derail it all.

8. Yes, at first it looks that way but a clever political strategist will
always tell you that the CENTER is the key to victory because moving to far in ANY direction always cause a backlash that make you loose the the power... no?!?

13. I agree, but it's not what they do. It's what people THINK they do.
I can't tell you how many people I've met who make less that $50,000 have thanked Jesus that Bush gave them a tax break. Or that Bush's actions have stopped Saddam from attacking us again like he did on 9/11, or that our air is cleaner due to his EPA's reductions of air pollution standards.

As long as they can convince people they are doing good, they can do evil with impunity.

9. Bush seems to mostly stay with what HE thinks.I say more of the ..
More of the same.Yes, he will send "strict" judges who will read the constutation in a conservative way. That means no decisions based on changing culture values or based on opinion from "across the pond".

BTW i don't think abortion will be overturned but will likely be a bit more restricted.

11. Who cares? Anything he does will be self serving.
Jeb says he isn't running but W wouldn't even think of helping. He doesn't care about anybody including Jeb. We are screwed no matter how you calculate this!

12. I wouldn't be so sure of that... Remember Bush is a puppet . He's not
the strategist of the group. Republicans will have a say since they will want to keep the power. Also, the Democratic party knows that it must recenter itself to attract more vote. What a better way for the republican that to beat them to it...

14. Don't even start. The Democratic Party knows it has to recenter itself?
BS. We need to go more to the left otherwise we will never be elected again. The DLC and their cronies have destroyed this party. We cannot be Repuke lite! And the Repugs Know better than to ruin their message by being Dem lite. They aren't as stupid as the DLC! Apparently they learn from experience. What worked for Clinton in 1992 ain't going to work in 2008. It didn't work in 2000,2002 or 2004.

17. Bush will do whatever he wants now that he has his "mandate"
and don't think for a minute that they don't already have a plan for 2008. The plan isn't Jeb it's Arnold. He's already made it clear that he wants to be president and I'd bet money they are already working on overturning the law so he can. If Bush can get elected they should have no problem getting the Terminator into office.

18. We are in for a HARD RIGHT tack.
Facing election in 2004 didn't stop Bush* and the Repugs from governing from the extreme right for four years. There is no reason for them to alter their course. And they won't. They gained more support in congress, not less.

They know they can sell enough of the sheeple on wedge issues to pass the baton to Jebthro. Jebthro will promise to please the wingnut base but offer a more centrist presidency than his brother. The sheeple will buy it, as long as the Chimperor hasn't totally screwed things up.

We are in for four very bad years.
