1. It just came on on MSNBC. They had few details and I flipped by when
they were almost done. Your post was the first I had seen about it.

Now they went back to Iraq.

4. Yes, they said it was the Mexican Consulate. I'm sorry but that was about
all I caught. They did have a helicopter view of it.

I bet the LA news has more information on it.

City On Tactical Alert Due To Hostage Situation

POSTED: 9:14 am PST November 9, 2004
UPDATED: 9:45 am PST November 9, 2004
LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Police Department put the city on tactical alert Tuesday, and evacuated the area around the Mexican Consulate General after a report of shots fired.

The Consulate PIO said the incident occurred inside the building, where witnesses said a man came into the building with a gun and held up a female cashier.

The suspect brought a female hostage outside building, and was shot by police.

LAPD took the man into custody with injuries.

The Mexican Consulate General is located at 2401 W. 6th Street in the Westlake District in Los Angeles.

Police shut down a major area surrounding MacArthur Park near the intersection of 6th and Parkview.

5. The Mexican Consulate in LA has a cashier?
That strikes me as odd, for some reason. Gift shop? Cafeteria? Huh.
