I have to get this off of my chest
Edited on Tue Nov-09-04 12:02 PM by Sputnik
We're all Democrats here (well, except for the GOP lurkers.)

Blue-staters, red-staters, Christians, non-Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists, agnostics, Northerners, Southerners, Westerners, Easterners, etc....

Yes, blue states voted by a majority for Kerry but still have GOP senators, representatives, or governors.

Yes, red states went for Bush but some of those very states have returned Democratic senators and reps to Congress. (My own state voted 54-45 for Bush but has two Democratic senators, three Democratic congressmen, and only one Republican congressman.)

No state is 100% red or 100% blue.

Some of us backed Kerry from day one. Others of us wanted Dean, Edwards, Kucinich, etc. I myself thought Wesley Clark was the candidate most likely to oust Bush, but I didn't get my first option so then I backed Kerry just as I would have General Clark.

I know we all want what's best for the party. We won't all agree on the methods or message, but we all agree that the Democratic party MUST become the majority party again in our country in order for America to once again thrive and be respected in the world.

The thing the GOP would like most is for us to turn on one another as they are in danger of doing the same thing themselves. They are greedy and fighting over the spoils of victory. We're fighting for the soul and future of our nation.

To those in NY, CA, MI, WA, etc...we appreciate you. You just don't know how much. Please keep encouraging those of us in the "red" states as we...well, we really need it as we continue to fight for our party and our country.

Yeah, yeah: "Screw you, Sputnik, and your red-state behind." There, I said it for you already so you don't have to. ;)

1. we lost a lot in this red state
the state house of reps, the governorship, and my dem congressman. :( Have lived in two of the states you list - and miss both. But this is where I live and this is where I have to try to make a difference. Btw, the two communities in which I spend most of my time - both were more blue than red.

3. Here here
Ditto for what Sputnik said.

A lot of people here don't realize how hard people in the red states have worked and will continue working to try to change the red to blue. It's a little like pulling teeth from an alligator, but we'll get it done nonetheless.

Please don't put us down. We're trying so hard.

5. Is anybody here putting down red-state DUers?
That would be crazy!

You guys are in the heart of the beast and have the hardest job of all to do. At least here, in NY, on November 3 I was surrounded by equally distressed people and there was a sense of solidarity. I can't imagine what it must have been like in the red states, with smug, asshole neighbors gloating over the results.

8. A lot of people were last week
And I've seen some ones this week too.
Mostly directed at the South. I'm a little sensitive 'cause not all of us who speak with that distinctive accent are raving republicans.

It's horrible here. It gets worse and worse all the time. It's getting harder and harder to stay and fight the good fight.

12. Stuff like this
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2650769#2650813
We even won my county for Kerry and retook ground locally from the Rethugs. This sort of "you people didn't do your jobs" crap is really hurtful.

9. Thank you
from Kansas. You said one thing that has not been said that probably needs to be said more and that is that we in the red states appreciate you in the blue states. You are keeping us in the game so please, know that and help us out. We are working as hard as we can and it is an uphill battle without news that is not RW, without radio that is not RW, with local papers owned by RWers from other states. The only dem press there is is what the RWers say about dems. BTW, I just found out this morning that the dem for state legislature that I worked for won by about 100 votes! Small victories.

11. Thank you. Messages of unity and strength are exactly what we
need. Followed of course by actions of unity and strength.

13. Thanks for the encouraging words!
Great post! We need to stick together. That doesn't mean we all have to think alike. That's what the "other side" does. But, we do have to treat each other with respect. For better or worse, we're in this together!

Oh, except for the GOP lurkers! ;)

14. Very well said
We all have some things in common. We want Bush out. We want the rights that the constitution gave us. We want our Country back. We the people, no matter where we live, are willing to fight the good fight for what is right and just.

15. Ah, a Texan! :)

As much as I'd love to hate Texas because that's where Bush resides, I adore you guys! I lived in Texas for a short time and loved it.

Thanks for your kind words!
