Democratic Party/The Party of the People....Republican Party/...
...The Party of the Evangelicals. There is no longer any room within the Republican Party for fiscal conservatives and small government enthusiasts. The Republican Party is now a single minded entity that exists solely to change the United States of America into The Evangelical States of America. This is our mantra. This is what needs to be said now until the next election.

Democratic Party Platform:

Equal Rights for all, Separation of church and state, Period.

We have had a convoluted message for too long. Let's simplify.

There are only two things we should be talking about: Equal rights for all and separation of church and state.

We can all get behind this message and it will make the Party of the People a clear alternative to the New Evangelical Party.

who use the churches as a way of controlling the people.

It is very important that we define that party before it defines us this round.

4. Please add anything else if you think I'm missing anything...
...but I think most items can be debased down this basic mantra.

3. I wish it were that simple...
The Democratic Party is no longer the "party of the people". When it decided to sell out to corporate interests in the pursuit of campaign cash, it ceased to be a party of the people. It is impossible for it to be BOTH a corporate party AND a people's party. It chose the former, and is now reaping the rewards of that decision.

That being said, there is no reason that we cannot all take over the Democratic Party, one office/town/city/county/state at a time, and firmly restore it as a true party of the people. However, we won't be able to do that until we get back to the idea of appealing to people on a more emotional level, and we do this by remaining true to our core values and being able to present our views in ways that they can all be easily traced back to those core values.

That's called a unifying theme. The Republicans have understood its importance for some time. The Democrats abandoned it in pursuit of the evasive "swing voter", and we see how effective that strategy has been.

5. The people who sold out the Party of the People to Corporate interests...
...are doing the same thing as the people who sold out the Republican Party to the evangelicals. The Republicans have let their party be stolen. We will Not! I know we won't because we have genuine ideals at the core. (I wrote this before I read on in your message, after reading your message, it seems as though we are sort of on the same page).
