"We Accept No Monkeys" say the Greeks to the U.S.

Protesters gather during a demonstration
organized by the ultra-nationalist L.A.O.S.
party in the northern Greek port city of
Thessaloniki on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2004. More
than 2,500 took part in the protest against
the American government's decision last week
to formally recognize Macedonia under the name,
despite Greek objections.

4. I'd love to know what that sign in the very back says.
"Bush come to" something.

Are they inviting him to Greece so they can heckle him face to face?

9. Greece still claims Macedonia as part of Greece, though it has been part..
...of the former Yugoslavia, and nominally part of the remnants of Yugoslavia/Serbia.

11. It could be one of many things...
...such as continuing to isolate Serbia's position in the Balkans; or to further "Balkanize" the Balkans and keep it unstable so that no one nation can dominate the region; or to appease Turkey, who we need in the Middle East, who would not want to see Macedonia incorporated into a larger Greece since they have historically been at odds with each other; or it could be something totally different such as a political payoff or future favors in the region; or it could be as you said "his sheer pleasure of pissing people off".

8. To think that
I had to explain to a liberal what Bu$h has done flaunting the Geneva Conventions.
Just a small example, Brady Kiesling, one of the 3 Foreign Service people to resign over the Bu$h Iraq War, said that all over the world, as in Greece, where the U$ has military bases, governments are not turning over soldiers who have committed some sort of crime outside of the base back to the U$ military, e.g., brawls in bars, hit-and-runs, etc., before they trusted military justice, now soldiers are tried in that countrie's courts and have the book thrown at them, i.e., even though there is no capital punishment in Europe, instead of 3 years, soldiers will get 10 etc. Where English is not the language of the country, the soldiers will at least learn a foreign language while in prison.
