PLEASE STOP FAXING NADER'S OFFICE!
I got a call from Ralph's assistant who expressed their displeasure at having their FAX lines taken out with thousands of FAXes demanding they do something that had already announced they were doing, i.e. challenging the New Hampshire election results.

(They were looking for Bev and haven't been able to get in touch)

I talked with Kevin Zeese, spokesman for Nader's campaign and he said Ralph intends to pursue the recount and that they will needs financial support and any data showing discrepancies in vote totals in New Hampshire.

If you would like to contribute to Nader's effort for a recount (which will require $80,000) you can contribute here.

To let the Secretary of State for New Hampshire know of your support for the recount, you can email him at:

[email protected]

The NH attorney general can be FAXed at :

(603) 271-2110

Tell these people to let the recount happen!

1. in our democracy..why should it cost so much to get a recount?
that $80,000 is more than most Americans make in a year. The STATE should be paying the bill on this. Or..someone other than us grass roots level folks.

It's ridiculous.

3. They state would cover it....IF the count were with in the legal range for
a recount.

I'm not sure if differs from state to state (most likely)...but the number that keeps coming to mind is 30k. If it were within...say...30k votes...than the state would cover the expenses.

4. Randi Rhodes asked her 4 million listeners to send $1 each to Bev Harriss
thinking Bev was doing the re-count. We were all under the impression that Bev and Nader were cooperating.

I think Bev should turn some of that money - (she was asking for 50,000) over to Nader.

Nader as a candidate is the only one who can challenge.

Seems to be Bev Harriss and Blackboxvoting.org should be cooperating with Nader in NH, and Cobb in Ohio.....and share the wealth since it
was represented,, early on here at DU, more or less that they were all doing this together.

11. Let me clarify
We are using the funds we got for FOIA requests. We have a funder in place to cover what Nader does not raise. They can't cover it all but will backfill. The FOIA requests are going to be used to find fraud...and to serve as evidence in lawsuits. Already in Nevada we have a citizen there willing to sue to stop certification prior to counting the provisional ballots. We are providing her the information she is going to need as well as a lawyer to stop certification. New Mexico is in play and we have friend in high places.

I am on the Randi thing now!

12. Bev wasn't asking for the money for the recount
She was asking for it for the FOIA requests in every county in this country. Randi got the info on the Nader request through a DUer and blasted it to all her listeners. I'd posted the request to contact him here because he needed to know that he had support for doing it, but when Randi got it, the faxes went way beyond anything that was asked for by the Nader folks.

At the same time, though, she seems to have unintentionally conflated the BBV request with the Nader contact request. Hence the misunderstanding. Chalk it up to just one more communication glitch.

What we're working on now is a mechanism that we can funnel donations into and distribute funds to the legal efforts around the country as they come up, that fulfills all the legal requirements in the way it's set up. BBV is a 501C-3 and can't play that role directly, so the fundraising/funding entity has to be separate.

I was listening when it occured, Andy Stephenson called at the very end of Randi's show and asked folks to FAX Nader.

Please correct me if I am wrong, Andy.

6. Really! Why should any candidate pay for a recount???? It seems...
to me that that is part of running for office--the state should pay when there are discrepancies! Another law to change when we become the majority!

8. After this campaign my wallet iss getting kinda moldy .....
.....where the money used to be but I just sent in Ralph $50 anyway. If there's any chance for a recount we must dig down and fund this. Don't wait for someone with deep pockets to come along. Dig down, folks.

10. What about Kerry?
How about that $45 million Kerry has left over from the money he raised to send lawyers to fight voter fraud??

I think, at the very least, he should be ponying up some of that money. Anyone know if its legal for him to do that??

17. That's not what Ralph is doing
If I interpret this right, Ralph is looking to cause trouble not because he thinks he can win. He knows he is not going to find a few hundred thousands Nader votes. But, Kerry has conceded and even so, won the state. Bush said he has won, so he isn't going to stir this up.

That leaves Ralph, ever the shit-stirrer.He just might redeem himself.

18. Don't you understand, though?
This isn't about Nader winning NH, or even about winning NH. Exit polling showed Kerry winning by as much as 15%, but in actuality he won it by a very slim margin. DUer IdaBriggs has been crunching some numbers, and she thinks that the NH votes tabulated by Diebold machines were screwed with. If we can prove fraud in NH, that should blow the door wide open in states like FL and OH -- not to Nader's advantage, of course, but to Kerry's. We need Nader because a candidate needs to file the recount request, and Bush and Kerry weren't options.
