NEWS: AP Poll: Stable Iraq Tops Voter Priorities
Hey! What happened to "moral values"???

====

WASHINGTON - As President Bush mulls what to do after winning re-election, voters say his first priority should be resolving the situation in Iraq, where the fighting is growing more intense. They also want Bush to cut the deficit, (ed. HAHAHAHA) which ballooned under his watch, rather than pushing for more tax cuts, according to an Associated Press poll taken right after the election.

The voters' concerns stood in contrast to the priorities Bush cited after he defeated Democrat John Kerry. Bush pledged to aggressively pursue major changes in Social Security, tax laws and medical malpractice awards. Terrorism was a chief concern both for Bush and many voters in the poll.

"I earned capital in the campaign, political capital, and now I intend to spend it," Bush said a day after becoming the first president in 68 years to win re-election and gain seats in both the House and Senate.

Some 27 percent of respondents named Iraq as the top priority for the president's second term, ahead of issues such as terrorism, the economy and health care. Only 2 percent named taxes as a priority. By more than a 2-1 margin, voters said they preferred that the president balance the budget rather than reduce taxes further.

At this rate, there will be 4-5000 American dead by the time the Chimp leaves office.

8. I think this is our opportunity, because WE all want Bush to succeed
in the middle east. We're ALL counting on him to out maneuver, out think Osma and restore stability in the middle east. If he can't do that, what the hell is he doing in office? We also would like to know what he is going to do about the economy. I sure hope he doesn't fail in Iraq and soldiers continue to back out of unstable areas...that would be disastrous for Bush, it'd look like he didn't ever have a plan. :)

10. They Will Not Get One, Sir
Iraq is already well into the death spiral; there will be not even a pretense of stabilty there in the next several years....

12. Guess they caught Dobson's appearance on Meet the Press
Yesterday the Christian vote won the election. Now it's Iraq.

Sounds like they are worried about taking orders from Dobson and company.

20. the moral values was about BUSH SUPPORTERS
this is overall supporters. kerry won on the issues. but bush's stinking base came out because of "moral" issues like abortion and gay rights. not that being anti choice and gay bashing is truly moral.
