No civics test in national testing ...

Dammit, I'm getting PISSED OFF at all these people who think that GOD is mentioned in the constitution. We need a CIVICS test as part of no child left behind.

Every high school student should be made to MEMORIZE the constitution!!! This is SO FUCKING ANNOYING!!!

Perhaps if our population had a CLUE about what the Constitution ACTUALLY said instead of their impression from the ravings of Rush Limbuagh, we could actually have conversations on the subject.

Here is a link to the constitution according to the Republican controlled House of Representatives. Though I wonder how long it is before they just change it out-right and hunt down all the books with the "unauthorized" version????

You know what. All these freeptards want to dedicate time in each morning to read the same old STUPID words that have NOTHING to do with our nations civics.

INSTEAD we could take a minute each morning and read ACTUAL CIVIC DOCUMENTS.


"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America. "

Dammit, they could even play the school house rock version!!!

Than read a couple of articles EVERY DAY. Do some FUCKING CIVICS!! It may BORE some kids, but dammit, they're already bored stiff and witless by that mindless loyalty oath we call the pledge!!!

Over time, they should be able to recite the WHOLE constitution like a good catholic can recite the Apostles Creed!!!!

2. My fifth graders love the Constitution...
Every year. Every class. They understand how important free speech is and why this includes tolerance for stupid and even hateful speech. They love the 19th amendment, although they can't believe it took so long for women to gain sufferage. They giggle at the 18th. This year, one student connected prohibition to our war on drugs.

One problem is that many elementary teachers can't get to social studies anymore because of all the test prep we're mandated to do.

The students literally are growing up without a civics education.

3. Have some fun with them....
Bring up the site and ask them to click on Edit and Find and hunt for the words God, Chrisitianity, religion, and Church, etc.
