I have a Election law question.
My wife is being forced to work a double shift tomorrow and may be told she can not leave work to vote, her shift is from 6 am-10pm.

My question-Is there a law protecting a worker on election day to leave work during there shift to vote if the shift is during all voting hours?

Election laws vary.

2. Um, I'm pretty sure that's illegal
But I'll defer to the legal scholars here. It -may- vary by state.

6. Also -- in 16 hours on duty doesn't she get a lunch hour?!
Surely that ought to be enough time to go vote, no?

But in any event, I do think that denying her the ability to go off and vote is likely to be illegal.

9. She
Does get a lunch, the problem is the company has fired two employees recently and she is the only one left trained to do that Job.

With voting lines estimated to be over 2 hours long that will exceed her lunch break,She is afraid if she leaves to vote that she may be dismissed if she does not return in ample time from voting.

3. Wow, how crappy!
What kind of company does she work for?

I have no idea if she has any recourse. If I had to bet I'd say she doesn't :(

10. I found the following information
State voting law for Kentucky:

Employees allowed up to 4 hours during poll hours (also for requesting applications or excuting absentee ballots on the day they appear before the clerk) No penalty to employee unless they do not actually cast vote.
