9/11 doomed the neocons.........
As they were percolating away in their think tanks, getting tantalizingly closer to the seat of power, they knew that the population wouldn't give them the mandate they needed without a huge fear for them to feed. They wished for a catastrophe, but they didn't really expect one as big as 9/11.

Their timing was set for several, smaller, but escalating attacks that could nurture the fear so they could tend the embers and fan it into something they could work with as they got their people in place.

9/11 made them put their plans on fast-forward, something they weren't prepared to do. There weren't enough BBV machines in place. Even the conservatives whose support they had counted on weren't completely on board. Some of them still had (gasp!) principles!

Rushing their plans into effect, unprepared, caused them to make massive tactical blunders, the results of which are making their way into the media as we speak.

America will be just fine for a few more decades, I'm sure of it.

1. I don't get this
911 is just what Dr. Cheney ordered. The neocons did exactly what they planned to do. They are the political front for the corporatist takeover of the republic. If necessary they can be jettisoned while the ruling powers behind continue to do what they have always done, rob the public blind.

2. Do you think it's because they didn't expect the buildings to fall?
that's as close as I get to LIHOP.

3. I'm not a MIHOP person
I think they anticipated several attacks along the lines of the first WTC bomb. Lots of excitement and nervousness to exploit, and widespread enough to get people jumpy from coast to coast. I don't think they expected one huge attack that sent paroxysms of alarm around the world. They weren't set up to properly exploit an event of that scale.

4. They didn't expect the number of casualties at....
....Pearl Harbor, either. They "wish" for nothing...they create what they need and when they need it.

They're interested ONLY in creating the symbol around which they can "rally" the populace...the actual casualty numbers mean nothing to them.

Think about it.
