I've been writing for the Turnspit Daily, a liberal blog, for almost a year now. The blog as founded to focus upon the topics of religion in politics and culture, but I'm ready to diversify. I'm looking to morph the Turnspit Daily into a group blog with each blogger covering his/her topic area but without being specifically restricted to that topic area.
I make no money from the blog and there is no pay involved. The potential candidates should be able to prove, through e-mail or otherwise, that he/she's capable of great writing. Big words don't matter, it's clarity that counts. I'm a big stickler on spelling, punctuation, and grammar, so if you're prone to such a thing, be forewarned. The ccasional typo or spelling error is fine, just nothing exorbitant.
Although this isn't a capitalistic venture, I want the candidates to take this seriously. If you currently run your own blog, keep at it. I'm looking for a blogger who can devote 100% of his/her blogtime to Turnspit.
As far as quantity goes, I'm not asking for a specific minimum number of posts. I'd prefer that it averages out to at least one post a day but great quality sometimes comes in depressed quantity and that's entirely understandable.
The best way to determine if you've got what it takes to be a blogger for Turnspit is to check yourself on the following criteria:
1) Do you love debating politics? Pointing out flawed conservative arguments and providing critique on policy?
2) Do you love writing?
3) Do you have enough time--and the appropriate internet access--to make posts?
4) Are you chomping at the bit to help secure a Democratic majority?
5) Are you confident enough to critique even the most highly paid (or most popular) pundits?
If you can answer yes to all of the above, you may be who I'm looking for.
The Turnspit Daily is not a mindless Republican-bashing blog, it's a mindFUL Republican-bashing blog. Criticism is delivered in the way of facts and intellectual analysis. The occasional outburst is, however, acceptable.
So, all of that mumbo-jumbo being said, I'm looking for two bloggers.
- One to cover the areas of national politics, campaigns, legislation, Senatorial races, Congressional races, scandals, and general conservative nonsense.
- And one to cover foreign policy: the developments in Iraq, Iran, North Korea. The wheeling and dealings of the State Department, and general conservative nonsense.
The Turnspit Daily is run on MovableType, but no experience with the software is necessary. It's a fairly simple system to use. First and firemost is knowledge, wit, and wisdom; and second is writing ability.
Contact me if you're interested.
Thanks,
J. Rhoderick
