Swift Vets and POWs for Truth is an independent group under section 527 of the Internal Revenue Code and is not affiliated with any political party or candidate for public office. Contributions to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth are not tax deductible for federal income tax purposes. Federal tax law requires us to collect and report the name, mailing address, occupation and name of employer of each individual whose contributions exceed $200 in a calendar year. Therefore, please be sure to provide us with this information so that we can satisfy our reporting requirements.

1. Not so fast
At least in California, it is legal for a 501 c3 to set up a separate entity, where those moneys are deductible. The above statement includes the language that the donation is *not* tax-deductible.

4. I lived in Florida and I have a 501 C 19 as they do and that 501 is

tax exempt. I know this ! It is a state coalition and Vietnam Veterans of Florida is supposed to be non partisian. I have a separate website for my politics but when it comes to the Vets Org. We REMAIN NEUTRAL ! This I know ! Vets orgs. cannot support one party or another....I know who Vietnam Vets of Florida are and they cannot hold their status using their website to push the Swift Boat Liars !

5. Here are their own bylaws
VIETNAM VETERANS OF FLORIDA, INC.

BY-LAWS - Amended 3 May 1997





ARTICLE I - OFFICES

The principal office of the Corporation shall be located with in the State Florida as the Board of Directors may determine, or as the affairs of the corporation may require from time to time.





The Corporation shall have and continuously maintain in the State of Florida a registered office, and a registered agent whose office is identical with such a registered office, as required by the State of Florida Non-Profit Corporation Act. The registered office may be, but need not be identical with the principal office in the State of Florida and the address of the registered office may be changed from time to time by the Board of Directors.





ARTICLE II - MEMBERSHIP

1. Membership in the Corporation is open to any Vietnam Era Veterans group pursuant to the following Conditions.





(A) Membership of any member organization must have at least 51% Vietnam Era Veterans of American Armed Forces as members thereof.





(B) The board of Directors of any member organization must be comprised of at least 51% Vietnam Era Veterans of American Armed Forces.





(C) The organization must be a legally incorporated entity under the laws of the State of Florida.





(D) The organization must be defined as Non-Profit, or Non-Profit Charitable.

(D) To study, on a non-partisan basis, proposed legislation or rules and regulations, introduced to or by Federal, State or Local legislative or administrative bodies which may affect the social, economic. educational of physical welfare of Vietnam Era veterans or others, and to develop public policy proposals designed to improve the quality of life of the Vietnam Era veterans, and others, especially in the areas of employment. education, training and health.





(E) To conduct and publish research, on a non-partisan basis, pertaining to the relationship between the Vietnam Era veteran and American society, the Vietnam war experience, the role of the United States in securing peaceful coexistence for the world community, and other matters which may affect the social. economic, educational or physical welfare of the Vietnam Era veteran, and others.
