The response from a young repub
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 12:23 PM by AndrewJacksonFaction
This guy is all about the war so I sent him the address to sign up for national guard and I got a response from him. Actually he put me up on his website. LOL. See for yourself (http://www.dustinmhawkins.com/emailoftheweek.html)

Here is the text so you don't have to go to his site:

Here (http://www.1800goguard.com/home.html) you should go sign up since you are for the war. This is what a true supporter of this cause would do.

Get back to me and tell me your thoughts. Bob Smith

Well, "Bob" thanks for writing. Let me first say, I do support our cause and I actually do support our troops. But your reasoning, that I should join the military because I support what they are doing, leaves me in a complicated situation. You see, I also support the policemen on out street, so do I join them instead? I also support the cause of firemen, do I join them as well? In fact, the list goes on and on, and I have to be directly involved in every action I support, I guess I will be a very very busy person. Luckily, I do not support abortion, so therefore I won't have to spend my time suctioning the brains out of "nonliving" clusters of cells, is that what we are calling it these days? How is that working out for you? - Dustin H.

1. It sounds like he's saying
"since I can't do everything, I'll do nothing". That's like saying "since I'll never be a billionaire, I won't bother getting a job". Ass...

2. Did the Same Thing
I did the same thing to a guy on a site I belong to. He gave me the same ration of crud, I then pointed out that he doesn't need to have a reflective vest when he's riding his bicycle at night, the yellow stripe down his back was more then enough for drivers to see him.

Your young repub is all talk and no action, like most of them.

3. if there's one thing you can predict a repug will do
it's use a strawman argument and pretend to answer a question.

Support the war - enlist.

Support the troops - what the hell is he talking about? Of course we support the troops. It was never NOT about supporting the troops. Is he befuddled? If one is so gung ho about supporting the war, then it is only appropriate that one should risk their own ass instead of everyone else's, particularly when there are many soldiers who go out of "duty" rather than a desire to go shoot people and risk getting killed.

Your republican friend is intentionally readily confusing the two issues. You can support troops without supporting the war. You can't support the war without being willing to sacrifice or put yourself at risk - such is the nature of wars.

Firemen don't invade and kill in other countries.

4. The war was optional, police and fire are not
there is little to no debate of their efficacy, not so with Iraq.

Dumbshit.

6. Policemen aren't hurting for fresh recruits.
Nobody supports abortions, just the right to abortions.

Tell him that and tell him he sounds like a total coward.

9. so he thinks our troops don't support the police and firemen
at least that seem's to be the logical conclusion one would have to reach. Or are they just better at "multitasking" than he is...

10. Pathetic, poorly reasoned, cowardly, and arrogant
Exactly what I expected.

No, you do not have to go out and enlist just because you support the war.

HOWEVER, these fucking conservatives contend that we are doing the morally correct thing here, they say that anyone who doesn't support this hates America and is a coward, and they say that we are in this to protect our security and our freedoms.

Well, then... If we are having to fight to defend our security and freedom, and we are finding out that we will be needing more troops, what the fuck is stopping these little fascist losers from enlisting, to defend America?

Oh, yeah... They are cowards.
