BUSH PROPOSAL FOR NATIONAL SALES TAX
Does anyone have any information on Bush proposal to replace the income tax with a national sales tax during a second term?

Can you imagine how damaging this would be for seniors on fixed incomes, minimum wage workers, and the poor everywhere!

I saw the figure 10% somewhere several months back, and I have to tell you that being from Mississippi, where we already have a 7% sales tax on groceries and prescription drugs, I might have to give up eating if the iron boot falls that directon!

2. Ed Schultz talked about this today.
Some guy called in and mentioned it. He said there were bills in the House and Senate that will eliminate corporate taxes. He gave the bill numbers but I was driving at the time and didn't write them down. They also talked about how bush will eliminate personal exemptions by changing the tax structure and going from income tax to a national sales tax. The rate the caller mentioned was 23% on all goods and services. Ed said bush talked about it on the trail today.

3. It's "fair"
I swear people are fools. How can it be fair to give corporations billions in no-bid contracts, make us reponsible for all the pollution, etc., they won't clean up, then not require the people who benefit the most to pay the most taxes. If this country votes for Bush, I'm going to have a major meltdown.
