Republicans going Democratic!
My father, who has been a raging Republican for all his life, astounded me the other day when I was on the phone with him! He told me that he was going to vote for John Kerry on November 2nd because Bush was a F-ing idiot! He also said Clinton was the BEST president this country ever had! He went on to cite how bad the economy is, and several other things that I totally agreed with but was suprised to hear coming out of his mouth!

I cannot express to you how unprecidented this is! My father going Democrat! Of course my mother is too.

I can't help but think they two aren't the only ones who feel that way. They live in Missouri (my home state) which is normally a Repug hold. Anyone else have this happen to them? I hope so! It felt GREAT!

GO KERRY!

4. Religion is the real issue here
For the true Republicans where religion is not their main point in voting, IMHO a lot will be voting for Kerry over the economy, Iraq, economy, stem cells research, the economy..... Oh did I forget the economy

19. He says he does
But saying something doesn't make it true
His deeds, though, as anti-Christian as one can imagine.

and his strong support here is mystifying.

My Dad didn't live long enough for the "conversion," though I have to think he would have seen through the current incarnation of "Rethuglicans."

This is happening all over the country.

14. My mom is quite literally a Zell Democrat
And she is a very religious person. I'm pretty sure that she is going to vote for Kerry. I have spent months just gently explaining some of the things that Bush* is doing wrong.

It takes a while, but even most religious folks will understand that Bush*'s endorsement of a particular religion is in fact a form of religious restriction.

15. Talking to a co worker this morning, he said he has voted
republican all his life, but this year he is voting for Kerry. He talked about the economy, how his IRA's and 401K took a beating over the last 4 years, the price of gas, as a veteran himself he was appalled at how they attacked Kerry's military service and the unjust war in Iraq!

18. Seems to be all over the place!
If enough Repugs feel this way, and I'm beginng to think there are, Bush doesn't have a chance. This are definately looking up. Now, having said that, I don't want to look at the world with rose colored glasses. I'm going to make it a point to talk to as many republicans as I can. It couldn't hurt.

17. N.C. Republican lawyer, former military Colonel voting Kerry/Edwards
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 08:02 AM by wishlist
I don't know if this Republican lawyer has gone public yet so I am not giving his name, but friends of mine who know him told me that this former Colonel is strongly Kerry/Edwards and is a great admirer of John Edwards. He had numerous professional dealings with Edwards regarding getting advise from Edwards on courtroom cases and has found Edwards to be a wonderful human being, helpful, honest and ethical and highly reliable.

BTW my own dad, a WWII Vet and registered Republican is also voting Kerry/Edwards whereas he voted for Bush in 2000 to his regret.

20. The Socio-Religious Idealogues...
Are doing a very fine job of tearing the repukes apart, as a party.

The repukes will soon enough learn the meaning of the old saw "There is no Free Lunch".

22. My partner's parents in Indiana are voting Dem for President
for the first time in their lives as well. Jobs/economy are an issue....his Dad feels betrayed that everything his generation worked for is crumbling.

But they are deeply disturbed by bush*s lies and dishonesty. They ask
"why hasn't he been impeached yet." (A short civics lesson in the Congressional politics explained that to them.)

26. Our friend in Indy
is a Republican and small business owner. Since he sells furniture, a discretionary item, his sales have gone in the tank. He's also mad about Iraq and his new wife, bless her, is a liberal schoolteacher using her influence well. He's voting Kerry and he says his Repub friends in Indy are doing the same thing.

27. "I don't want a president who relies on faith. I want a president who
relies on technology." That is a quote from a Repub in Wisconsin, friend of a friend of mine. This friend, a Dem, tells me he knows of three Repubs voting for Kerry so far, in different parts of the country.

I know a guy in MD who is voting for Kerry - and it is the first time he is voting Dem! He was not going to vote at all because of his disgust with the Chimp, but is now votng for Kerry to cancel out his wife's vote! She is voting for the Chimp because of the "tax cut". And yes, she is an idiot...
