I got my husband out of bed, who served in Vietnam with the 101st. He barely made it that day. Migrane headache and covered in Agent orange plus shaking very badly but wanted to be there for me. I helped my 81 year old legally blinde Father in the car to be there that day. A WWII Veteran who doesn't draw a dime from the VA.
these kids were our grandkids until we adopted them. The oldest with juvenile diabetes. The little boy has a cleft pallett and hearing aids from 80 percent hearing loss. We have a 22 year old grandson (not pictured) and I we are great grandparents. Our son is 35 and suffers from severe mental depression and I help veterans and work as hard as I can to care for this family and take our country back. The people you saw on that bus was about it. Maybe 20 people showed up for an International News Event and nobody in this town cared. They didn't care that we are christians, that my Dad is a minister, they didn't care that we feed the poor to the point of poverty ourselves int he neighborhood. They didn't care that we reach out to those less fortunate than us. they didn't care that sometimes I work until my blood pressure goes through the roof. They didn't care that I fight day and night mentally and vocally for the veterans getting shafted. Not even my friend of 35 years who is no longer my friend, who I helped get her husband a 100 percent disability, nor any church member, nor even any family members showed up for this event. Why? Because we are democrats.
Divided country indeed ! It even stumped the C-Span people. They saw this small town in Georgia and talked to me and wanted to show people how educational the rolling studiio that had just came back from the Kerry/Bush Debates worked. The Mayor did not even show up. Not one educator. Jukes was there from DU and a handful of people. The local papers and that was it. I never distinguish when helping vets who is republican or democrat but folks sure drew the line that day with me and my activism. People know I am pro Kerry but this was not a Kerry rally. I didn't even mention my politics but I surely mentioned the Media and its takeover by the r-winged slant. I thank C-Span and I thank all of you but the rest of the bigoted bunch can expect more of the same from me. Loud and CLEAR !
I see the waving flags, and yellow ribbons and the Support our Troops and God Loves Bush stickers. I see the signs on churches. I see the hatred in these same people's eyes. They are the ones carrying the banner of patriotism. I say BS ! You either live it or talk it. The walk is a lot harder than the talk. What have any of those people who refused to be educated about a news bus miss out on? They missed how to turn the remote from Fox to C-Span. They are not patriots. They are wantabes. Hypocrites !
