Sinclair research topic: Carlton Sherwood, "Stolen Honor" producer
Interesting little bio about Sherwood on the documentary's website:

http://www.stolenhonor.com/about-producer.asp

"A thrice-wounded, decorated, Marine Corps combat veteran, Sherwood served as a sniper-scout with the vaunted Second Battalion, Fourth Marine Regiment -- "Magnificent Bastards" -- during some of the war's bloodiest fighting on Viet Nam's notorious DMZ in 1967. Following a four-year voluntary enlistment, he was honorably discharged in 1968."

Thrice-wounded? Must have been self-inflicted wounds. Just a scratch, right? Sherwood probably didn't even earn his Purple Hearts. He awarded them to himself- if you look at the requisition forms for the medals, you'll see the initials "S.C." on them. That's proof right there.

Even better: can we get Bob Kerrey to distort and smear Sherwood's war record on national TV, only to recant quietly a couple days later?

:eyes:

You won't like what I'm about to say: we have to play their game, folks. I hate to say it, but I'm afraid that we have no choice but to be ruthless and have complete and utter disregard for the truth if we hope to win.

1. "Some people" say the wounds were self-inflicted.
Not me, thought. "Some people".

A nod's as good as a wink to a blind bat.

2. IMPORTANT for DUers in Sinclair markets to write to ALL their TV stations
• Write a LETTER, not an e-mail -- it's 10 minutes well-spent!
• Put your feelings in your own words, but make it clear that Sinclair's proposed acts are a violation of the public trust, and you intend to hold them accountable.
• Make a few points, sequentially and clearly.
• When writing to Sinclair, tell them that your letter is to go in their "public file."

A great one-stop resource for research, factual points and contact info is the APJ Home Page -- at the top of the right column, look for "SINCLAIR SMEAR BOAT SCANDAL / STOLEN AIRWAVES" and follow the many links.

4. The most damning info is that
he is a part of this administration and was given money to create a website for homeland security 1.5 years ago and still hasn't done it. What did he use this money for instead then? Hmm.

And what could be more important than doing what homeland security tapped him for? Hmm.

6. Carlton Sherwood on Bush's payroll to produce firstresponder.gov...

but instead produces a slime attack ad against Bush's opponent.
OUR tax dollars hard at work. It's hard work, you know.

Regarding www.firstresponder.gov:

"the site was supposed to go live on March 2004, but so far ... nada. But it's not like we're in any hurry or anything. Take your time. You've got documentaries to produce. And a whole bunch of history to cover up."

I tried both www.firstresponder.gov and www.firstresponders.gov, nothing.
