1. This may sound like a pipe dream
but if I ever get to a high position in gov., homelessness would be the first thing to become non-existent in the U.S. along with poverty and joblessness.

I have thought of ways to get rid of this effectively and not be a hand out at the same time. Been something that has bugged me for about 6 years, becuase I have seen it from both sides. And I believe I could get rid of it.

3. You could:
1. Raise the minimum wage.
2. Provide health care to everyone (is that a handout?)
3. Drastically improve mental health services
4. Drastically improve treatments for addictions.

For a start....

4. I was thinking along the lines once of
putting those people to work ( sorta like the 1st new deal but a part 2 for the homeless ) on improvement projects of all sorts, that would pay them a wage that they could live comfortably in a home that they themselves built or built for them and get them educated enough to be turned around to where they could better themselves.

The issues you listed are also ones I had on my list.

2. Thanks for the notice. I don't get MSNBC, so I'd appreciate
anything you can report from the documentary.

Thanks!

6. 105 Trillion is usa wealth
Edited on Mon Oct-11-04 02:55 AM by oscar111
four billion is all that is needed to restore the cuts that created homelessness in the first place.

All ideas above, in re's, good. I say add the vouchers, because some folks cant work... the insane... asylums cut in half since reagan started .

The rich have been detaxed since fifty two.. Prez Ike... down to a third of what they should pay. What they DID pay.

from ninety percent tax, down to thirty five percent.

End all hunger with 12 billion.

End hunger and homelessness with total of sixteen billion. Easy to do, with 105 Trillion to work with. Consider that just the stock market total return on that is

Ten Trillion, every year, on average. That would increase the whole federal budget to five times current size. Need, 16 billion, can have, 10 trillion. 500 times what we need to end all homelessness and hunger.
Just using the stock dividends/price rises, not even touching the stock value of 105 trillion. Just the "interest", not the wealth itself. 500 times.

http://www.federalreserve.gov/releases/z1/current/accessible/l5.htm

see bottom line.. and line 20 if you really think liabilities are a factor.. which wouuld cut all by three fourths.. leaving the five hundred number at a still adequate 125 times the need.. to end all homelessness and hunger.

also good:

http://www.nathannewman.org/nbs

twiddle with the fed Budget, up and down every item.. pentagon, ss, welfare.....etc

hmlss die at three times the normal rate.. 84 000 per year.
Barbaric to just let it go on.

BTW, HomelessNews site at yahoo groups, .. owner slammed Kerry, stroked bush. Anyone know the story on owner Covington? A bush GOP mole, like AARP mole?

7. I can't tell if you're giving me a synopsis of the program,
or talking about your own ideas.

Please clarify.

Thanks.
