TBTM Editorial: 'National Review, Fox News, and 'Bush Haters'
Edited on Thu Aug-28-03 09:26 PM by americanstranger
Efforts to paint Bush critics as a "fringe group" may have worked six months ago, but not any more.

Here at Take Back The Media, we make no secret of our dislike for George W. Bush and his administration's policies, both foreign and domestic. We've also been known to take metaphorical aim at the current resident of the White House with our flash animations - in fact, the reason we actually started this site was to provide a showcase for those animations. A quick look at our Flash page shows no less than 10 flash animations poking fun at the Whistle Ass administration on a variety of topics, from the economy to the rollback of civil rights to the lies he told in the wake of Afghanistan and in the run-up to Iraq. It would be an understatement to say that satirizing Bush provides a target-rich environment....

Bush supporters in the media see their control of the news slipping away, due to the growing influence of numerous "bloggers" and alternative news sites such as this one. And their reaction has been as bewildering as it has been predictable - they're labeling us "Bush haters."

The most recent instances of this have shown up this week, as a tag-team effort between The National Review and Fox News. NR's Byron York wrote a feature article entitled "Annals of Bush Hating," and Fox News was only to happy to have Mr. York on to discuss this article. Here is a portion of the Fox transcript (in italics), with our commentary. Let's roll the tape...

2. Have I told you guys how much I love you?
You fight the good fight for truth and justice, and I'm just so damn proud of you, your site and the work you do! I saw the bit yesterday with Hume and Byron York, and I was whistling and cheering the entire time.

5. That's why Bush only visits friendly venues with hand picked crowrds
He hates to feel those "fringe" vibes. All of friggin Europe is a fringe group.

Mexico and Canada too.

6. at least they said the name of your website correctly
i'm sorry, i'm still a little bitter about the whole bushisamoron.COM blurb york did.

but anyhoo... by them dedicating 15 minutes of airtime to relegating your website to "fringe group" status, they have done nothing but furthered your momentum.

11. I especially liked the ending
"This sort of dismissive tripe may have worked before the White House broke everything. But that was then, this is now. The gloves are off, and Bush is in for all the criticism that he deserves, be it on the internet or off.

And this time it's you, Brit Hume and Byron York, and those like you who need to "get over it."

Keep speaking truth to power!

12. Exellent, but you missed Bush41's connections...
When relating the history of Bush-Nazi connections, there's stuff of more recent vintage than Prescott.

Journalist Russ Bellant (OLD NAZIS, THE NEW RIGHT, AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY) shows that Laszlo Pasztor, a convicted Nazi war collaborator, built the Republican émigré network. Pasztor, who served as adviser to Republican Paul Weyrich, belonged to the Hungarian Arrow Cross, a group that helped liquidate Hungary's Jews. Pasztor was founding chairman of the Republican Heritage Groups Council.

Two months before the November 1988 presidential election, a small newspaper, Washington Jewish Week, disclosed that a coalition for the Bush campaign included a number of outspoken Nazis and anti-Semites. The article prompted six leaders of Bush's coalition to resign.
...
The Philadelphia Inquirer ran an article on the Bush team's inclusion of Nazis (David Lee Preston, "Fired Bush backer one of several with possible Nazi links," September 10, 1988.) The newspaper also ran an investigative series on Nazi members of the Bush coalition. The article confirmed that the Bush team included members listed by Russ Bellant.

Journalist Martin A. Lee, has written for The Nation, Rolling Stone, The San Francisco Chronicle, and other publications. In THE BEAST REAWAKENS, Lee confirms that during both the Reagan and Bush years, the Republican Party's ethnic outreach arm recruited members from the Nazi émigré network.

13. The major difference between Clinton haters and . . .
The major difference between Clinton haters and the pure, freedom-loving, star-spangled, red, white, and true blue sons and daughters of liberty who don't care much for Bush is this:

Clinton haters whispered about some cousin's girlfriend's brother's uncle who was an Arkansas state trooper trainee who had a juicy story about Clinton that was just too explosive to be revealed in its entirety right now. No names, no dates, no location in time, just the thigh-rubbing innuendo that there was something about to break about Clinton.

The PFLSSRWTRSDLWDCMB, on the other hand, merely hold up the front page of the New York Times, or point to the evening news. Names, dates, places and the perps all tied up in a nice, neat bundle. Unfortunately, the media aren't interested in anything quite so apparent, and the 800 pound gorilla just sits there, farting and flinging its shit.
