BBV - Did I see too little and learn too much?"
This article is worth the ten minute read. MUCH can be learned from it.

A Day As Observer
by Milo Clark

Hawaii's primary election on September 18, 2004 found us in the Hawaii County Counting Room as Official Observers, "the eyes and ears of the public."
(BIG snip)
Obviously, some serious problems need work

2. Lest anyone infer otherwise
The printout from Hart referred to is not a voter verified paper ballot.

Heart almost skipped a beat when talking about reports, then they said they counted the ballots manually. Ya gotta keep in mind that the optical scan can print out "reports" of voter choices. The report should never, ever be used in audits or recounts. Same problem as with a touch screen, it's a program's interpretation of the vote.

Yep, lots of "clean up" to happen here....

5. It really makes you wonder what November is going to look like.
I keep getting more nervous by the day.

BTW, I was buried in work for the past couple of weeks. What happened with the big press conference in D.C. with Bev, Andy & crew? Was it carried by the media big boys? Did they finally get it that it's a non-partisan issue?

:kick::kick::kick::kick:

6. Yes, got some press
Both conferences were full, big guys were there.

But the bet is that the major broadcast media has been told what they will report and how much of it.

It's the same old scam over and over:

"The election officials protect the system."

(Without answering why it is so vulnerable in the first place)

"Dumb election officials caused the problem."

(Whenever anything goes wrong)

You'd think election types would figure this out and get angry. I guess if you have a vendor in your ear 24/7, and now that vendor has put your aft portions on the line by convincing you to spend mega-bucks on a bad product, then you go into permanent denial.
