issues in our society
the rates of abuse or depression or serious illness (cancers/heart disease etc) or alcoholism & other addictions or greed... the list is endless and consumes our society from the top down
side note: i dont say that every single person who is diagnosed with illness is harmed by these issues of emotion, but i have lots of experience with people and their health. and emotion is a consistent and overlooked factor in our health and well being.
aside from the physical repercussions, there are a lot of unhappy/stressed people in our society who dont know what to do with their feelings. anger falls all along a spectrum to include (but not limited to) depression, defensiveness, shutting down (wont talk if upset), uncertain in making decisions, arrogance, aggressiveness etc fwiw, i think it explains an awful lot to view people through this prism.
and this all ties in to what we see as we are trying to talk politics and voting with people incl our family and friends. the more layers people add on to try to cover up what they feel, the more of a caricature they become, and the more they want to see themselves as a "leader". now some take this and become the followers. so again there is a whole spectrum of what is reality and what isnt but has become so for a certain group of people.
this is one reason why i enjoy someone like john kerry (or wes clark or jimmy carter). and as an example, i see him in a way that i dont see bill clinton. this is not to compare, just giving an example of why i really like kerry. kerry seems comfortable and grounded in himself in a way that doesnt need attention or confirmation. he is a strong and honorable man who deals with life in a confident, but lower key way. i like this. he repeatedly demonstrates his ease with himself, without the need for approval and fanfare. it seems he has had a long and eventful life, that has enabled him to examine who he really is and what he wants. not everyone has done this and certainly not many politicians this is not to contrast him to clinton, this is just talking about kerry. clinton is not the same type personality of course so im just outlining how i see kerry.
