The Pre- and Post-debate spin of CNN
The Pre- and Post-debate spin of CNN

CNN host Wolf Blitzer:

PRE-DEBATE:

A pivotal night in this presidential campaign, perhaps a decisive moment. A key opportunity for the Democratic challenger, John Kerry, to break through, to try to establish himself as a formidable candidate in this race.

<...>

That's a huge audience. A lot of people, of course, most of that audience has already made up their minds. But those undecided voters are still critical.

<...>

A defining night. I think everybody agrees potentially. This certainly could be a defining night. Historians will be writing about this for many years to come.

POST-DEBATE:

So even if John Kerry decisively won the debate, we shouldn't jump to any conclusions, let alone on the final outcome on November 2, but even if there will be a significant movement in the poll numbers, the real polls, not these instant polls over the next three or four or five days.

1. Yep,the "don't trust instant polls" is the newest Whore TV talking point
Edited on Sat Oct-02-04 08:01 AM by OneTwentyoFive
Funny, they're are the ONES who put those polls up in the first place!! Now,with things going south for Chimp then all of a sudden those polls are NOT to be trusted.

Wait till the VP debate,I don't care if Edwards turns Cheney everyway but loose Whore TV will unleash an attack campaign against him within seconds of its closing.

2. CNN Started to go downhill...
..when Wolf Blitzer became its main on-air anchor. He did a credible job in the first Gulf War and that got him the big job - much as Dan Rather cme to prominence as a result of his coverge of the kennedy assasination.

Blitzer is a mental lightweight and speaks mainly in cliches. He's much better in dealing with fluff pieces than hard news.

3. With Clark, Wolfie was trying to catch kerry re: retiring Shinseki
"But he retired when his term expired. right?"
It blew in his face as Clark told him Rummy named his succesor a year ahead, "cutting his legs in the pentagon". So much for that talking point.

5. Wolfie seemed desperate to pick on Kerry right after debate
Right after the debate Wolfie was hyped up trying to nail Kerry for being inaccurate in saying that Bushco 'retired' the General who had given them pre-war advice they didn't agree with. Fortunately for Kerry, Wolfie brought this up with Wesley Clark! Wes backed up Kerry explaining exactly how this General was pressured out because his views were unpopular with Bushco. Wolfie seemed hell bent and very determined to hammer Kerry on this issue but Wes Clark got in the last word brilliantly.

6. CNN = Comedy News Network
Honestly, I watch The Daily Show and find it to be a relatively good news show. I watch CNN and all I can do is laugh. I had to stop watching CNN. It's just too silly.

It is my belief that journalism died and went to hell just about the time of the media mergers.

8. The cable box
in our home was reprogrammed last night. I went to our cable co. web site and found the instructions for "parental control". Within 5 minutes CNN and Fox were removed from our TV. Now when flipping channels I won't run the risk of seeing those revolting presstitutes.
I never want to see Blitzer/Kagen/Zahn/Brown etc again.

11. I thought most media did a huge about-face re. debate significance --
They told us for days that the debate would pretty much decide the election. Then when Kerry won, their faces spun about so fast you'd think they were in the "Exorcist." Suddenly, the debate might help the victor (Kerry) but would probably have no effect on the polls, and, one assumes, the election.
