The "Training" Of the Iraqi Forces
Let's get real, folks. We destroyed their homes, economy, lives, jobs, everything.

Then, we offer them jobs as Iraqi police and militia. We give 'em a badge, a little cap to wear, and a few dollars, and call them "forces".

They take the money (as well they should, what else can they do?) and when shit happens, they don't show up or run away.

Nice. Very nice.

1. Correct....
They don't have a country to serve and motivation to do what is required. A recipe for disaster...

2. 80 % desertion rate
Hundreds of them have been killed for aligning themselves with the occupation forces. Their families are threatened with kidnapping or worse.

I've just been absolutely astonished by how badly this whole endeavor has been botched.

Hope it's redeemable but ever since Abu Graib, it's really difficult to remain optimistic.
