Called for Prayer Support re: Debates Tonight.
Edited on Thu Sep-30-04 06:48 PM by IdaBriggs
I called Silent Unity (800-669-7729), a 24/7 prayer support line that is open to people of all faiths, for support regarding tonight's debates. They will pray 24/7 for the next thirty days about my request. Because of my own religious beliefs, I phrased my specific request as follows (paraphrased at that moment):

"That both candidates would show their true character, those watching would be able to discern this, and choose between them with wisdom for the benefit of all of us."

If anyone else is moved to do so, please join with me during the debates in this prayer, using whatever phrasing works best for you.

Best, Ida

On Edit: Thank you in advance if you decide to join me.

4. The Freepers are praying, too.
But not quite as graciously.

"Holy God, I confess my own sinfulness and thank you that you still bid me to boldly come before your throne of grace. In this debate tonight, if it be your will, please grant President Bush godly wisdom to deal with his adversary and to win the hearts of the people of this country. Give him grace in the eyes and ears of his audience, and grant him four more years of service to us and more importantly to you. I also ask that you confound and confuse his adversary, make him to appear foolish and ungodly, if this is so and your will. Do not grant him grace in the eyes and ears of the audience, and please remove him and his type from holding office of influence in this country.

God please bless this undeserving country, and grant us to sense to always turn to you.

Lord I ask these things in my Lord Jesus' holy name,

Amen"

9. Honestly,
I know that there are a lot of non christians or others will differing beliefs but I will have to start praying over this election. George W. Bush ranted and raved like a maniac here tonight. It was utterly disturbing.

How can his presidency be deemed a success?

He presided over the biggest attack in decades, he let bin Laden slip away, he attacked the wrong country, the economy sucks, he alienated us from our allies, he takes our tax dollars and wastes them, etc.

13. Pretty much like my own prayer
I prayed that the debates would reveal to us all that we need to know about these two men the ability to discern wisely.

Great minds I guess.
