What I would like to see happen for this election ->

International, independant exit pollers for all states.

I think the exit pollers that called Florida for Gore in 2000 were right on the money (though now - the network anchormen ( like Jennings) deny it and claim they were wrong!?!)

That way - if the election is stolen (BBV or whatever) we will know.

I think that if this happens, you will immediately start seeing reports of the "inaccuracy" of exit polling, how it doesn't reflect the actual vote, etc...

But, I think it would be a great thing to have. At least something would look fishy if exit polling all over shows Kerry winning, then after some "irregularities" we find that Bush is awarded a win.

yes - that is exactly what "they" say about Florida and nobody has successfully called them on it. IOW - that is the conventionally accepted "wisdom" by people who get their info from the mainstream media.

I expect that the Republicans would resist an attempt to have independent exit pollers because they wouldn't want to risk being called on their shit.
