We must be driving the rest of the world insane. Think back to the Reagan/Bush years and our foreign policy and national direction. Then along came Clinton (thank goodness). Most everything changed 180 degrees. Those were the good old years and we built up prestige in the world and made some real progress. Wham! Along comes Shrubco and the reversal is immediate and almost unbelievably bad. Hopefully, JFK will take over in January, but the world will be be faced with another change in U.S. direction (obviously they will be happy about it!).
Our current split of National personality is really messing up our functioning in the world. It takes a long, long time to fill the positions each time we change political leadership. Is it time to change our Constitution and our form of government?
"America" has come to mean at least two very different things....
How can we smooth out these rough times? With our country so divided what will be the result if we keep totally changing direction every four to eight years? Does it matter?
