Today's Excite "poll" - Are we more secure?
Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 03:33 PM by Why
It would be nice if the were to set one of these up in a fair manner. Desired effects (Strengthened) get one box, while undesirable effects (no effect, or Weakened) get two. This is pretty much par for the course for Excite. Anyway, here's the question:

Do you think that President Bush's policy in Iraq has strengthened, weakened or had no effect on national security?

Strengthened 46% => 3437 votes

Weakened 40% => 2963 votes

Had no effect 10% => 753 votes

I'm not sure 1% => 143 votes

I don't care 0% => 24 votes
Current number of voters: 7320

To de-spin this, 46% believe we're better off, security-wise, while 50% do not. Of course, since the "do-nots" have been split by the structure of the poll, the casual observer believes a plurality of Americans believe we are more secure than before we invaded Iraq.
