Bush loses voter in Virginia
I have had a long-running battle with a close friend of mine for two years now about Bush that began before the Iraq invasion. At one point, he was talking about how Bush was "like Churchill." (Gag, retch). Two weeks ago we were talking, and he is going to vote Libertarian. He is a principled conservative (fiscal conservative, libertarian on social issues, an outdoorsman and very pro-environment). He told me that after reading the WP's articles on the Bush administration's secretive weakening of multiple environmental regulations that he could not vote for him. Not exactly a vote for Kerry (I can live with that - he is a Republican, after all), but not a vote for Bush. A minor victory.

3. Welcome to DU and treat your friend very nice for
a little while - that's a hard step for a Republican to take.

5. I'm major enviro myself
so, it may be my prejudiced point of view, but I think if people knew what bushco are up to re: THE NATURAL WORLD, his approval rating outside the brainwashed among us would be about 2%.

6. I always tell pubbies who can't bring themselves
to vote for any Democrat to consider Badnarik. Oh, I think he's nuts, but he's still better than risking another Bush term. If a miracle occurred, Badnarik wouldn't appoint more Scalias to the Supreme Court. He'd go with probusiness social libertarians.

In any case, he's somebody they can vote for instead of voting for the worst president ever, and every vote we can take away from Bush is a vote gained.

7. Bush loses two voters in South Carolina
My mom is most likely voting for Kerry. My dad is most likely voting Nader as a "protest vote." These are both life-long republicans in Bible-Belt fundieville.

:D

My dad can't vote Bush because Bush is NOT (is in fact the furthest things from) a fiscal conservative.

My mom has been swayed by the totality of Bush's failings....and she doesn't have as deep of a blind-hatred against Democrats to keep her from voting for one if she likes them.
