4. Nobody does it like Clinton?
I guess I will have to agree. Clinton kicked ass so hard that we lost the house, the senate and apparently were not in position to fight a coup in 2000. We also saw the embrace of a tax system that favors wealth over work, the gutting of welfare (no, it was NOT a good thing) and the movement of the Democratic Party so far to the right that it effectively becamce the moderate wing of the Republican Party. And didn't Clinton also advise Gray Davis? Yeah, I think he did.

Sorry but while I voted for Bill I think this hero worship of him is sorely misplaced. In my opinion his net effect was the single worst thing to happen to the Democratic Party in the last seventy years. John Kerry should weigh his advice...carefully.

6. Clinton really did a lot as pres. I read somewhere that he accomplished
the most foreign policy wise since FDR. While I agree with you that he has caused problems for the party, he has also do a lot for Democrats.

And by the way, Davis lost b/c of a stupid, out-dated law that should never have been left on the books and b/c he has a very serious and sometimes calculating personality that doesn't always work well voters as well as other politic ans. IMO, it had nothing to do with Clinton.

11. Not just Davis.
I believe Big Bill had more than a little input into the 2002 midterm election strategy and also was in favor of the war resolution for the Dim Son in the White House. I could however be mistaken on those counts.

Clinton is a smart guy. Much smarter (and more successful) than I will ever be. But he his hardly infallible and his advice, in my mind, is suspect. His mishandling of health care reform can not be overstated and it set the cause back by more than a decade. His "don't ask, don't tell" policy for the military was (and is) an unmitigated disaster. My fondest memories of Clinton in the White House include his veto of the awful bankruptcy bill and his achievment on peace in Northern Ireland. I also liked his fiscal responsibility. Too bad it just left Dim Son a big pile to squander.

Clinton's personal electoral success has much to do with his own personal charisma and magnetism. It came easy for him. I don't see those qualities in John Kerry and advice from someone for whom it does "come easy" may not be sound advice. Then again, it might be great! Kerry should weigh any advice from Clinton with great care.

7. And the Best Thing in 92 Would Have Been
Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 01:18 AM by ribofunk
Paul Tsongas? Jerry Brown? Who would have been the Democratic savior?

Nixon kept the GOP from evaporating by having a liberal agenda which made his presidency more acceptable and allowed his party to grow. Clinton did the same for the Democrats. The story isn't over yet -- it's just beginning.

8. Whatever Clinton cared more about poor people
then these assholes could ever even imagine.

Clinton has made plenty of mistakes, but if you think our problems started with Clinton you haven't been paying attention to who has been running the country for a majority of the past 24 years.

Everything that we are dealing with now started with Nixon. Carter and Clinton we just nice breaks from the republican fearmongers.

During his time in office Clinton actually helped more people than he hurt, and I sure can't say that for the repub presidents.

So if you don't like Clinton please don't rain on my parade. Clinton is one of the most belived people in the world and I'm sorry you disagree.
