1. He did admit
To passing CBS those docs, right? Am I missing something? He's pissed because he wasn't able to remain anonymous. Hey man, if you pass bogus shit (presumably) then you get no protection as a source. Sorry.

3. I think he was planning this all along.
He was in it for the money? Sue CBS and become a multi-millionaire? What's his agenda? I thought he was out to help the Democratic party? Is this part of the KKKRove plan? :tinfoilhat:

doesn't matter if he wins the lawsuit

as long as it STAYS IN THE NEWS

the payout will be from Rove when this is all over (not from CBS)

2. On what grounds? Burkett lied to them about the real source of the docs.
And shouldn't he be more worried about this Ramierez woman suing HIM?

7. He wants to file because
CBS didn't protect his name, like they promised AND they promised to authenticate the documents. They THOUGHT they had!

11. So they held a gun to head to make him appear on TV? Also would like to
s=see contract CBS had him sign. Probably included clause they could reveal his name if documents proved to be false. Don't think CBS hires Joes Legal Shack to draft thier contracts.

13. Yeah, from the Abrams discussion
it doesn't sound like he has much of a chance to win if he does file .

19. CBS violated a contract?
What did the contract say specifically?

Unless he is willing to divulge that, he shouldnt get any airtime with this accusation. GOD I HATE THE MEDIA, I wish we had a press.

6. All I know.
Having met David VanOs and his parents, having watched this story develop, having actually been on the base in Austin and met with people that I know knew Burkett, I stand behind them all, all the way!

Knowing the Bush's for who they are is an important start for anyone and everyone. They ARE NOT TEXANS! They are from the East. They are elitists. They are part of the robber barons from of old. Just think Mafia. They are no different. Here's one for all to relate to: They put the Soprano's to shame. Tony just wishes he could be so bad.

15. Incognito, dearest,
It is all there for all to see who wish to see. Peace

There has been too much info posted here at DU for you to question or ask for more sources. I'm leaving everyone I know in Austin alone. They will not talk. Do you want to jeopardize your retirement or your health care after you've seen what happened to Burkett, well, no.........

I'm so sorry for what we did not prevent.

10. I didn't think I'd be saying this a week ago...
... but if this is happening, it means that CBS probably gave Burkett confidentiality as a source. When the documents became questionable, CBS had no choice but to reveal Burkett as the source. That's probably the basis of the suit.

But, what isn't in this? One reality--it's looking more and more as if both CBS and Burkett were set up. Right now, they need each other to find out who did it.

Funny thing, there are more than a few people who'd like to help them both. And, not a few of those think they need help.

The longer they argue with each other, the colder the trail gets. CBS and Rather sit there with egg on their faces and Burkett continues to fret about his reputation.

What a mess.

20. Hello....
... check your PM. You need things I have.... :)

Why? Because Rove can probably swat several flies at once.

First, Burkett is a problem, given his previous statements about purging the records. Bush enemy number one.

Second, the intended first target was likely the Democratic Party. If they had bit, taking the documents, they could be discredited for publishing on the basis of false documents. Bush enemy number two.

Third, Demo Party doesn't bite, but CBS does. Dan Rather wants to do a story. Unexpected advantage accruing to Rove, since Rather is an old enemy of BFEE, because of Rather's attention to Bush Sr.'s involvement in Iran-Contra during Reagan administration. Rather winds up with egg on his face, and the presumption is that he is engaging in a vendetta--as promoted by cable news. Longstanding Bush enemy number three.

Fourth, rumors abound that Roger Stone is the source of the forged papers. Source of rumors? No one's saying. Roger Stone is a competitor of Karl Rove's for campaign management jobs. Ever since Stone was outed for sexual kinkinesses while working as Dole's 1996 campaign manager, his business has suffered. Is he taking a job to get into someone's good graces again, or is Rove driving a stake through his heart by the rumors? No one knows. Enemy number four.

The possibilities go on.

Cheers.
