How many abortions are performed in the US every day?

There's a Pub on the radio right now arguing with Lynn Cullen (Pgh) that there are 500 abortions each day, and 40% of women who have one have more than one.

Now, I have no idea where to find information about that. I don't even know if it's possible to know. Does every Dr. have to report this somewhere?

Why anyone thinks women would want to spend thousands on an abortion as a matter of convenience is beyond me.

Mother Nature spontaneously aborts about 50% of all conceptions, without any outside intervention. (I may be mis-remembering the specific #, but remember it was high enough to disprove the idea that God had anything against abortion in general.)
