"Fun" facts to know and tell: 1,821 protesters were arrested...
at the Rethug convention in NYC versus 589 arrested during the volatile 1968 Democratic National Convention.

There is a column in today's Mpls. Star Tribune called "By the Numbers." Here are a few of the facts mentioned:

Number of days from the beginning of the invasion of Iraq to the 500th U.S. military fatality in the war: 299

Number of days from the 500th U.S. military fatality in the Iraq war to the 1,000th fatality: 238

Number of protestors arrested during the Republican National Convention in New York last month: 1,821

Number arrested during the violent Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 1968: 589

Approximate number of suspected insurgents that U.S.-led forces in Iraq now have in custody: 5,500

I would like to see the statistic on the increase in American deaths front and center in this campaign. The numbers are damning for Emperor George, or should I say, Mr. Mission Accomplished?

2. Number of American Fatalities After Saddam's Arrest
The one accomplishment that Bush can positively claim is that we arrested Saddam Hussein. That was late last year, but American fatalities have continued. I wonder how this figure stacks up against the total.
