Flag lapel pins - Oh. My. God.
Just saw Senator Pat Roberts on CNN apparently WITHOUT his requisite flag lapel pin.
Isn't that a violation of some clause of the Patriot Act?
Why does he hate America?

Madeline Albright won the FLP competition this morning.
Her's was about the size of a 3 by 5 card.
Hooray for our side.

1. Yeah she's got quite a large selection of huge flag pins
bedecked with lots of crystals. As for Roberts, i'm sure he'll get a flash memo from the RNC detailing his punishment.

There is no way the Republicans can beat us with Albright's flag pin going for us!

Thanks for the great news, and please keep us posted!

4. I HATE those pins...makes me think of obligatory swastikas in pre-war Germ
As if wearing some stupid lapel pin makes one more patriotic than those who don't.

It's idiotic and jingoistic and appeals to the lowest, dumbest, hick, Repuke-loving, professional wrestling/mud-bogging, lemming-like, genetically challenged individuals.

"Boy, howdy. That guy has a flag pin on his jacket. He really must love America." ...nevermind the fact, that that same guy is fucking you out of a future and is sending your kids to die in a stupid Neo-con, imperialistic, delusionary war.

10. As much as the flag stickers on cars?
I don't know which I get more tired of: flags on lapels, or stuck to the side of an automobile.

6. What is the deal?
It's like the Republicans chanting USA USA USA at their convention. What does that say? Are they insecure? Do they have to be reminded at all times that this is America, since the longer they're in charge, the less it looks like America?

Now you've busted the poor man. It was probably just a wardrobe malfunction, but now he'll be in Gitmo tomorrow. I hope you're proud of yourself!

9. Ah, but look at your own picture! Edwards is in violation!!!
I don't know what that non-regulation button is that he's wearing, but it is NOT an official Flag Lapel Pin!!

Hell, I'm surprised this pic hasn't been all over FAUX News with the caption "John Edwards HATES America!!"

I think the button that Edwards wears has something to do with his son Wade. But sooner or later, he'll have a flag pin too. It's become mandatory, apparently.

Isn't that picture great, tho'?!!

16.  A little over the top--you might wanna tone it down a little
If you don't want the fun and games to end too soon.

15. Bill Moyers "when I see flags on lapels, I think of Mao's Little Red Book"
"The flag's been hijacked and turned into a logo - the trademark of a monopoly on patriotism. On those Sunday morning talk shows, official chests appear adorned with the flag as if it is the good housekeeping seal of approval. And during the State of the Union, did you notice Bush and Cheney wearing the flag? How come? No administration's patriotism is ever in doubt, only its policies. And the flag bestows no immunity from error. When I see flags sprouting on official lapels, I think of the time in China when I saw Mao's little Red Book on every official's desk, omnipresent and unread.

"But more galling than anything are all those moralistic ideologues in Washington sporting the flag in their lapels while writing books and running Web sites and publishing magazines attacking dissenters as un-American."
