What comes through loud and clear from the words and actions of Bush
supporters is that all men are not created equal. Some such as Bush
born to wealth and privilege are more equal than others, especially people who are poor, black, Hispanic, Native American what have you and in order to protect their privilged life Bush is entitled to lie, cheat and steal his way to power with no accountability to any one.The nearly 50% of our people who support him are now convinced that our Founders either made an error in including these lower classes or believe that the original intent applied only to White, Rich and aristocratic Men. The anger you see reflected in each and every word or action of the Republicans comes from this deeply entrenched belief that they are born to rule over us.So, I expect that if Bush is returned to power, a new Constitution may well be drafted that would put serious roadblocks to our rights. The specter of Terror would be invoked to justify the complete rewriting of the Constitution. This would be the beginning of the Thousand Year Reich.

5. I hope he is right. Before this last gasp is spent, a lot of perfectly
good and innocent people are going to get hurt as "fodder units"
(the Elder Bush's term for us) in their endless wars against the less fortunate peoples of the world, like the Vietnamese, Cambodians,Iraqis and others.

8. Good one. I hope he's right.
Look I think white males deserve equality as well, but I won't mind them being forced to share their largess with the rest of us for a change.

13. In some ways this anger may reflect the fact that the Chinese, the
Japanese and the Indians are already racing ahead of them through their emphasis on the family and education.A person who used to be the Lord of all he surveys now sees himself having to compete on an equal footing with the darker races. Not a happy situation, I would say.

3. The bigger picture in this AWOL story is Bush can't tell the truth
Even as people go wild around what IBM typewriter
ball was used, the elephant in the room is the
absence of Bush's testimony of what really happened.

He just can't come clean about his past, can he.

4. And yet, so many of his supporters are
poor, ill-educated, and ignorant. How in the world do they count themselves among the elite??? I guess it's the ignorant bit that does it for them.

6. These are the wannabes who want entry into the privileged
classes mainly through their white skin privilege.

10. You must be right
I've never met a redneck who didn't consider himself superior to any person of color. I think what really scares these guys is that the demographic projections for the US show whites will be in the minority in just a few years--and bang! goes their hope for preferment based on skin color.

11. I came to this realization, when a friend of mine from the UK, who
happens to be a highly regarded Professor at Cambridge University,no less and who is black, was treated shabbily at one of the Cracker Barrel Restaurants in Alabama. He also mentioned that he has heard the N word in this country more than in UK.

7. Chimpy might get his Reich...
but it won't last. The Third Reich barely made it through ten years with castastrophic consequences. This country won't bow to it the way the Germans did. Millions will wake up in a hurry if the scumbags are elected to (or manage to steal) four more years. It just not believable that there can be 50 million votes out there for these fuckwads.

of our government. Hell, I don't have ten years. Many of us don't.

either they're gone in Nov. or shortly thereafter. Here on DU we all know what shit they intend to pull off if they win. The sheeple don't. They'll wake up in a hurry when it goes down.

14. To a certain extent, I would agree. In order to keep their hold on
these extremists, Bush has to come up with more and more extreme positions one of which may very well involve the Constitution's revision or abrogation as I have stated. It is only when the dimensions of the violation of our basic beliefs and values sink in that the people will wake up.Like you say, it may very well happen in the next few years. If that phase passes without any uproar, consider that we will be off to the races toward a Thousand Year Reich.
