Idea regarding our wonderful media and this typewriter issue...
I know there is a list here floating around DU that has practically every media outlet on it. What if we were to collect all the information regarding the issue of these typewriters being widely available as well as their fonts, scripts etc. and made sure that as many people as possible sent the media the truth?

If 500 people sent them that much information, someone would have to pay attention.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

1. That is what freepers did yesterday
and that is the reason doubts were raised by every single media outlet today. They have been freeped.

There are so many experts right now looking at this issue. Especially experts from CBS. They should be clever enough to figure out that those typewriters existed.

However, it wouldn't hurt to write/email to media outlets to let them know that they are just repeating right-wing talking points again.

I wish they would have questioned the "SwiftVet liars for Bush" this fast. They let their lies be televised for weeks without raising doubt about their motives.

2. It's a hopeless cause.
There's no way to prove what type of typewriter Killian was using. The whole point of this it to focus on minutia so that people ignore the big picture of Bush's dereliction of duty. It's clearly a concerted effort to protect Bush. I say ignore the phony typewriter ploy and focus on Bush's conduct.

4. Ignoring this issue hurts us...
We should respond to each and every lie, especially the big ones like this, quickly and with as many people as possible.

By ignoring it, it looks like we are saying "oops, heheh, you caught us!...ok, lets focus on this other thing"

thats just wrong on so many levels.

6. Write all the E-mails you want if you think it'll do any good.
As I said it's a concerted effort to distract by a right wing corporate controlled media.

3. I listened to Steponallofus this morning
and the quibbles are proportional spacing, font, and a curved apostrophe. Well, folks, these "experts" on the right are assuming that 1950s Underwood typewriters were being used. IBM Selectrics came with a choice of several fonts that could be changed by changing the ball (people who used them will know what I mean); spacing on those things appeared proportional; and every single typewriter I used back in the good old days had a curved apostrophe.

I guess they just forgot about those Selectrics, which every steno pool started using as soon as they came out.

These complaints are utter bullshit.

5. Bullshit yes, and thats why we should do what we can to get the facts
out there.

Hell, comparisons to other documents released by the WH show the same issues and "concerns". To say that these are suspect and not the others is a joke.
