3. He seems more thoughtful when he's around Ron Reagan Jr.
He treats some liberals with respect and that's abnormal behaviour for a RWer.

5. I noticed the same thing
Joe Scarborough has a son with diabetes and the stem cell issue might be influencing his attitude lately. It helps that he has hung around Ron Reagan quite a bit. And he is one of those Republicans who is irate at the growing deficit. He is still a supporter of Bush, unfortunately.

6. He is trying to tone down BECAUSE he was photographed at
the bush rally. Because of that picture he got the label conservative stamped firmly on his forhead. He is trying to convince people now that he is unbiased.

As if anyone believes that.

11. exactly
it's like when people on DU go nuts because chris matthews says something moderately unconservative. then the next day he goes back to pandering and shilling for the bush administration.

8. He is repub light.
More like the older ones before the bushits, neocons, and religious cons took over. I don't think he is too crazy about certain elements of his party. Did anyone hear him the night he was talking about liberal music from the 70s and how much he enjoyed it? That was a few years ago, but I swear I heard him say something similar this week.

9. He's much more fair during primary and convention coverage
I noticed that in the spring and was stunned. The Scarborough on the Tuesday night primary analysis shows was much more even, and sometimes very astute, than on his show, especially the opening anti-liberal rant. The same held up during the convention.

He's a nasty repug that wears women's dresses in his bedroom at night.

17. It could be some of the influence of Rick Kaplan
Chris Matthews' growing sympathy toward the Democrats and Scarborough's more reasonable commentary seems to date from the time Kaplan took over as head of MSNBC.

19. Daily Show
Did anyone see that episode of the Daily Show when Jon Stewart used the MSNBC scrolling text (at the bottom of the screen, you know what I mean) to write out "Scarborough is a douche!!! Scarborough is a douche!!!" while he was reporting?

Hee hee.

Now I think of that everytime I see him!

21. It's his kindler gentler act!
One day on Air America Radio, Big Ed was fawning over Joe. I think it was the same day that he was lambasting Al Franken for the "We" are growing comments. Ole Big Ed got a few calls on the issue and Franken, as a true professional, never mentioned it. The callers also worried about Big Ed liking Scardude and bashing Al. I guess Big Ed must have gotten a few glasses of koolaid from Joe.
Even though he is a douche, it appears that he has been tryinig harder or something. He just can't evolve fast enough like another poster mentioned.

24. Interesting observation
I noticed that too. He still manages to talk the talk and peddle the poop, but even he's not putting much heart in it.

An interesting change in the last couple of days is not only how cable news, especially CNN, has turned completely into a right-wing Ministry of Disinformation, but also how many of the old hardcore apologists for Bush, even guys like Matthews and Barnicle and Fineman and even some the FOX puppets, are having a very difficult time trying to defend what's going on. They're awed by the power but also shocked by its crudeness.

25. I read in Keith Olbermann's blog on MSNBC's Hardblogger. . .
that Scarborough had wondered aloud the other night about what it said about * that he had to run an attack campaign on Kerry instead of his own accomplishments. Pretty startling stuff coming out of the mouth of a Repug. But he's like Buchanan and McCain--they might disagree with the party and they might say things that make sense--things that Democrats can agree with them on--but at the end of the day--they are all still Repugs.
