My god. The money, the power, the influence, the way "it is". The powerlessness I feel as an ordinary citizen. Capitalism at its' worst. Well, maybe capitalism isn't to blame, but seeing this makes me realize who is really in charge.

1. They have to woo?
Why? Is the marriage getting stale?

2. Much in the same way some Saturday Night Live comedians
claimed "it's not a gang.... it's a club"

I say... it's not a department of defense... rather it is a department of offense... and since it is able to make a profit for certain well connected individuals... it is corrupt.

Much in the same way that the medical system in this country is based on profit...and since the medical system is based on profit disease is what we will have since only disease is profitable.

If the department of offense is able to make a profit for well connected special interests.... then war is what we will have.

Not a concerted effort to reduce, assuage, mitigate, eliminate, ameliorate, or diminish terrorism and its true underpinnings ..... but rather all out wars in which our young can be maimed and killed.

It is a very very bad system.

4. Yes, good show.
I'm going to hate it when Moyers ends his run after the election.

David Brancaccio is in the running to be host, but it will only be a half hour after that, assuming PBS continues it.

They hammered the lobbyists and corporations throwing the lavish parties for both parties, in Boston and now in NYC. No media, no media, no media allowed -- did ya get that refrain? Why not? It's our blasted trillions of dollars that are being spent, by our representatives who are eating that food and being entertained by A-list entertainers.

Blank Rome was interesting. I just read that name the other day -- was it about Swift Boat? Anyway, a lobbyist for defense contractors ... seems worth remembering.

5. I saw it.
It made me cry out of anger for the vets coming back from the war we have now and the ones who will never come back.

Sick bastards, living it up, drinking their champagne and eating their caviar in their $2000 suits, while people DIE for the dirty money they make.

Filthy. Eisenhower, in his farewell speech, warned us about the industrial-military complex becoming too powerful. Too bad no one listened.

BTW, that was a good report. I hadn't ever seen NOW before, but I found it to be a lot more sober and calm and better presented than most other things I see on TV.
