You have to do a whole lot of focus groups to get an adequate sample to have any reasonable conclusions at all. One group is such a tiny sample...the error is just too freakin' large.

focus groups are good for exploratory research and basic concept testing. they are used incorrectly in marketing research all the time and this was an example of how they can be used incorrectly in political research as well.
