Something "fishy" about the Islamists holding the French journalists?

Why would they be doing this? Are they really Islamics? France opposed the invasion of Iraq. Why would they do this now after Abu Grhaib was turning international sympathies their way. This just doesn't make sense to me. :shrug:

1. It has galvanized opinion in France

even Islamic groups that opposed the head scarf law are now backing the government. Muslim women have been demonstrating in France, calling the terrorist actions blackmail and that it has hurt the Muslims in France.

Who are the French to interfere with a tradition of treating women like objects? I suppose the extremists should be grateful for any and all support they get but they still want their women subjected to their rules.

France, however, will need to draw the line at public stoning of their women that happen to make eye contact with another man that is not a family member. It's a tightrope for sure.
