Right Wing Text Book?
I went to my bookstore to get my textbooks for my classes this fall. One of the readers for my English class is "Get In The Booth" by Larry J. Sabato. Some of the contributors include Howard Morman, Susan Page, Carl Cameron, James Kitfield, Steve Liseman. Doesn't it seem a little skewed to the right? I'm going to UNLV and this is my first semester, I hope I don't have some right wing nut professor. Has anyone heard of this book?

1. Sounds like you have a great opportunity
to become a "young" spokesperson/author/radio personality fighting the "right-wing bias on campus."

several months ago I thought I'd give myself a refresher course on american history, so I recomend "The Story of America, Freedom and Crisis from Settlement to Superpower ": allen wientsten & david rubel. the contributor list is +24 historians.

Great text, solid facts, good stories.

4. It's kind of sad, really.. Using a college english class
which you are PAYING for, so those right wingers can spread their dogma.. I would actually question the people who decide which books are used.. It sounds like a more appropriate book for journalism (hah) , or sociology, or maybe abnormal psych..

If the teacher chose that text, you have an insight into his/her thought process..

Might be a long semester :(

5. Read it thoroughly, analyze it carefully, think about it critically
You're not going to college to have your own point of view propped up. The book is probably well-written, at the very least, so play along and see what you can learn. If you can disagree coherently with opinions presented in the text, you might just have the makings of a few really good papers.

For balance, see if you can find an Art Criticism or Music History class that uses The Anti-Aesthetic as a text.
