My Province is burning
It's just terrible, I have never seen anything like this here. Best wished to anyone who has ever lost their home in such a tragedy. Hopefully the insurance companies won't try to screw everyone. This story came out and I just posted it as a "keep informed" kinda deal, I figured that late breaking wasn't the best place. Either way its too bad there is no way to prevent this kind of thing.

KELOWNA -- Some 30,000 people have fled a massive wildfire here as more than 200 suburban houses south of this picturesque Okanagan tourist centre have been lost to the relentless blaze.

Almost one-third of the city's population have been evacuated in recent days. Record numbers of firefighters from across Canada have been joined by military and reservist workers pressed into service as the worst forest fire in 50 years refused to be contained.

Kelowna's was just one of 842 wildfires burning across B.C. and its residents just some of the more than 12,000 under evacuation alert. Fighting the fires is costing about $6 million a day, totalling more than $150 million to date.

1. That really sucks!
I know how it feels when there are a lot of fires around, living in California where we seem to have a lot of those problems. I have been really lucky not to have been personally involved in any of them. I have had some friends who have lost everything, and it's so sad!

I hope they get the fires out soon. I would really like to visit BC someday. I am kind of a Canadaphile, but so far I have only been around Toronto.

2. Sorry to hear that.
Those of us who live in fire country know how devastating it can be. Mother nature is a bitch sometimes.
