1. From DailyKos
(I agree it is sooo frustrating!)

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/8/23/16503/6468

I've received some unsubstantiated rumors that Fitzgerald's office is nearing the end of its investigation, and that it will issue three indictments including Scooter Libby. According to these rumors, John Hannah, a Libby deputy, has been "turned" by the investigators and is singing like a canary. Hannah has already been linked to the case. If indeed he has turned state's witness, it would present a major breakthrough in the case.
As for timing, while the investigators hoped to wrap up the investigation within the next four to six weeks, that timeline is now in doubt and may, in fact, be put off until after the election.

Those are the rumors. Take them with a grain of salt.

8. just a question
in the piece, Kos also points out that fitz is squeezing reporters hard, indicating the investigation is coming to a climax. and that the supreme court says you can't go after reporters until yuoi've exhausted all other potential sources.

so my question is this.
if hannah is singing, are they still chasing down reporters to simply corroborate his testimony?
and if hannah has given them the scoop, wouldn't the supreme court guidelines preclude their chasing down reporters.

then again, we are talking treason, here.

any thoughts out there?

4. I've been wondering about the tectonic plates myself
As well as the Plame case. I wish Josh Marshall would give us a clue. And wouldn't it be sweet if Bush got indicted. I can hope can't I?

(my first post since my star went supernova.)

5. If there is no indictment in the next month you can forget it
There is a rule in the Justice Department against handing down indictments close to an election, a rule that goes back to Lawrence Walsh's Iran-Contra indictments the Friday before the '92 election. So if we get into October and there are no indictments you can take it to the bank that Fitz has decided to wait until after the elections. In any event, October indictments would be seen by many in the chattering class as being overtly political, so the political benefit would be limited anyway. It would just be seen in the context of the campaign. My guess is after the election.

7. "political"
I'm not disputing you, in fact I think you're right. But isn't Fitzgerald a Republican?

10. All Josh has said is that he has an article coming out in Washington
Monthly Mag., the end of the month (which should be this week since he said it the beginning of August). But it seemed to me, that he's backed away from the "Tectonic Plates" statement. He said something about been scooped for his story by the Brit papers which had an article about the Intalian Intelligence Operative who gave the "forged" intelligence info about suppoed Niger Yellowcake.

He said when the article came out it would explain why it had to be delayed. :eyes: My impression (sadly) was that something had gone wrong with the story. Maybe they couldn't get a final corroboration and so the story is dead. Very sad...because he seemed so confident that he and others had a big story and that even one of the TV networks was in with them on it. Maybe it will still happen...I hate to give up hope, but I'm not optimistic as I was when Josh first announced that.
