Sally Baron's obit request spurs national outpouring (DU mentioned)
The story of Sally Baron, a Stoughton woman whose obituary asked that memorial funds go toward the removal of President Bush, was catching hold across the country as her family held memorial services Friday.

Dozens of people from around the United States have written to The Capital Times saying they will make donations to various organizations in her name, and the request was aired on national TV Thursday night.

<snip>

Online comment on the politically left Web site democraticunderground.com embraced Baron as a hero.

"We can't lose now. We have a very special angel on our side," a person posting under the name "shirlden" wrote.

Another said: "I am amazed at how much more hope, more peace I feel after reading the story of this family of such generous spirit. Too often I feel such despair about our current situation, but here just one wonderful story lifts me up."

Others said they had made T-shirts with her picture on it, and would blow whistles to acknowledge Baron's nickname for Bush (whistle ass).

1. cool...
....we really helped to make this story live. Some of us sent it to our favorite broadcast anchors/reporters and it made the news. We pushed it pretty hard.

We done good, kids!

Thanks, Sally!

2. And the freepers weight in:
On the political right, those posting on the Web site freerepublic.com were not so kind.

"Pack of rust belt commies," one person offered. "Screw 'em. Screw 'em all."

A joke that was repeated by several on the site was whether Baron would keep voting after her death. One person wrote: "May she be remembered forever as a testiment to media propiganda and political slime."

Nice comeback, assholes. Spelling, too.

after years of hearing that I lived in a "godless" state I thought that by moving into the center of the country I was now officially in : God's Country! The Heartland! and so forth.

Rust Belt Commies?????where the hell did that come from?

Nothing but nothing is beyond the ability of a freeper to turn into shit---even their own very special "more decent" regions of the US.

6. I have no idea
I grew up about 30 miles from Stoughton, WI and I have never heard the expression in my life, but I sure do like it! I have started using it myself for shouting at ol' whistle ass whenever I see him come on the tube. It is very therapeutic.

8. I'm guessing but
I think this is a reference to an uptight individual who is "clenched" as in "he's such a tightass, his asshole whistles"

I dimly remember this phrase from the 70's

But , like most of the 70's it could have been a dream

29. my Michigander Mom called a real jerk, a "horses ass"
which she thought was a BIGGER jerk than just a 'regular' ass

and sometimes my uncle would call some useless person an "old fart", implying that their ideas were old and smelly...

so, in Michigan terms...

whistle ass = a real BIG jerk with old smelly ideas, offensive too...

13. Take Back the Media is offering Whistles to get Whistle Ass REMOVED
PLEASE DONATE TO DEMOCRATICUNDERGROUND FIRST!!

***************************
CONTRIBUTE TO TAKE BACK THE MEDIA AND YOU JUST MIGHT GET HEARD AT YOUR NEXT BUSH PROTEST!

TBTM is offering this fine LOUD Whistle for a Ten Dollar (or more) contribution - We'll even throw in a pair of cushy ear plugs!

Inspired by the gutsy attitude of a fine lady and her last wish we are working on getting Bush out of office and effect protest dynamics at the same time!

Sick and tired of standing or chanting in a First Amendment Zone knowing that there's probably no way that "Whistle Ass" Bush is going to hear your voices of dissent from blocks away as he sneaks from one fundraising dinner to another?

Then look no further than our own fine NICKEL PLATED "STOP BUSH" G.I. style Whistle - with a sporty lanyard included!

This will give new meaning to "Blowing the Whistle" on George W. Bush - maybe all the other Whistleblowers will chime in - from Washington to California - from the CIA to the FBI, who knows?

We are willing to bet that you'll get someone's attention if thousands of protesters armed with these babies give a toot while giving a hoot about who's squatting in the White House! (Be sure to bring extra ear plugs for your protest partners!)

PLUS, what BETTER way to shut up those few pesky Deluded Right Winger types that want to argue and scream at you?! (Be sure to offer them ear protection first!)

*****

Well? Can you just imagine THOUSANDS of Protesters Whistling Ol' Whistle Ass OUT OF OFFICE from Blocks away? They cannot deny the power of the WHISTLE

Here's an easy way to do it and help us stay in business too!

http://www.takebackthemedia.com/whistlestop.html

That's wonderful! We are really having an effect out there!

23. Thanks for that link! Besides the photo, it's a forum
Here's my favorite of all the posts:

http://blog.deanforamerica.com/archives/001147.html

<<Read this story yesterday, which has prompted an additional contribution from our family to the Dean/beat Bush effort this weekend.

Our mother, Emily, died earlier this year. At 82, she had had an absolutely wonderful life, which included living in a number of foreign cities, Baghdad being one of them, in the mid 60's.

Our mother, always a solid democrat (and very generous contributor to her causes) so despised dubya that she kept a clipping file of his atrocities. Her death fell on Valentine's Day of this year; had she lived longer, her family and friends know that subsequent dubya events would surely have killed her!

We have been holding some contributions pending the structuring of a memorial in her honor at U.C. San Diego. However, reading 'In Memory of Sally Baron', and the perfectly articulated obituary statement 'working for the removal of President Bush' - we, the family of Emily Desmond now offer her memorial monies to Dean. Like Sally Baron's family - we absolutely know that Emily is gleeful over the current 'outting' of dubya's antics (still cloaked at the time of her death) and would want her family to fight on for the removal of this ghastly president and the horse he rode in on.

Thanks to family of Sally Baron for their fabulous guidance!

i hate the left. does no one remember the man who died and in HIS obit asked folks to vote for Bush.

When I see that people like this, cracker-commies, and the dems that love them are still around, I KNOW the culture wars will eventually involve "real bullets".

Hopefuly that will only be after we kill all the Muslims that live to kill us.
