It was during his re-election bid. He was always surrounded by military people viewing the disaster area. Clinton went down amidst the "tent cities" and met with the victims directly. The press made a big deal about that.

But if I remember correctly, there was a delay in getting federal aid in there, too. That may have played a part in the memory I have of the visit being a negative in the re-election effort.

the left coast of Florida is built out to the high tide line, and the people living in the costliest apartments don't want riff raff walking the shores they paid so dearly for. Shrub coming here is nothing but a photo op for sure, but the farking minions will eat it up. They don't realize a living wage is whats' really needed here, they don't care if rents are 1200 a month for an efficiency apt, they don't care if no one has health insurance, but they sure do luv the tax cut and the fact you can write off the cost of a 6000 lb vehicle used for business. Like they need a 6000 lb vehicle to navigate I 75, The problem lies with the lies, they cut their own throats and think it's only right and proper. They send their kids off to kill others for no good reasons at all and think they're being patriotic, after 28 yrs here, I'm about over it all.
