The book Bush-haters don't want you to read.

"The American Prophecies: Ancient Scriptures Reveal Our Nation's Future"

The following words, were spoken to Bush by his pastor, says the author Michael Evans.

"If you abandon Israel, God will never forgive you."

"Our position in the last days will be determined by our choice of allegiance: Will the growing liberal tendencies of our nation pull us to join the E.U., U.N., and Russia in a globalization move that will, in the end, force a false peace on Israel and begin the Tribulation? Or will we with our moral clarity, large Jewish populace, and Christian consciousness align ourselves so closely with Israel in the final conflict that we are literally indistinguishable from her in the final chapter of Bible prophecy?"

snip

The hostility of Islamic fundamentalists toward America can be explained succinctly, Evans asserts: It is rooted in bigotry, the ancient prejudice against Jews. Yet, says Evans, "America is cursing what God has blessed (Israel) and blessing what God has cursed (rebuilding Babylon ). Does the Bible reveal what will happen to a nation that does this? A thousand percent yes!" wtf:

1. Ah yes, those wonderful pastors
who tell people what to think so they don't have to use their own brains. Bigotry comes in all faiths, and the obvious bigotry towards Islam is obvious in what this guy says. Unlike what some people would have folks think, Islam honors the Hebrew religion and Jews as people of the Book. Sure, there's Islamic imams who diss Jews and Christians-they are the mirror image of the Christian fundamentalists. Wish all these 'religious leaders' would leave people alone and let each individual take responsibility for their beliefs.

Christian Zionist leaders today have access to the White House and strong support within Congress.

For many Jews, the enthusiastic support of these evangelical Christians is welcome at a time of terrorism and rising anti-Semitism. Several Israeli leaders have called them "the best friends Israel has."

But other Jews and Christians have begun speaking against the alliance, which they see as a dangerous mix of religion and politics that is harmful to Israel and endangers prospects for peace with the Palestinians.

The prophecy
For Christian Zionists, the modern state of Israel is the fulfillment of God's covenant with Abraham and the center of His action from now to the Second Coming of Christ and final battle of Armageddon, when the Antichrist will be defeated. But before this can occur, they say, biblical prophecy foretells the return of Jews from other countries, Israel's possession of all the land between the Euphrates and Nile rivers, and the rebuilding of the Jewish temple where a Muslim site, the Dome of the Rock, now stands.

4. Why would Bush-haters not want people to read this?
As they say, know thy enemy. Using Biblical "prophecy" to guide US foreign policy in the Middle East, supporting Israel no matter what, is going to lead us into WWIII. For the fundamentalists, this isn't particularly a problem, because they regard WWIII as Armageddon and fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. They plan on being "raptured" and watching the biggest action movie in history from their front row seat in Heaven. The fact that WWIII, if it went nuclear, could have millions of casualties and destroy our planet as we know it is unimportant to them. If you're a "Christian" then you'll just go to heaven. If you aren't a Christian, they who cares?

7. The only real prophecy...
...is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

None of the other kind work without a lot of redacting after the fact.

If every American truly understood the type of faith that motivates Bush, he would not only be out of office in November, he would be out of the country.

How could Margaret Atwood be so damned prescient? (Handmaid's Tale)
