Laugh Riot: Pat Boone

Dig how he mentions himself in the same breath as Springsteen and others.

The old fart sure can use anything for another comeback.

3. Hilariously embarrassing
"...boasts that Elvis used to be his opening act..."
In reality, Pat was copying Elvis who was copying then-unknown black artists.

"I prayed about being a singer, and opportunities have been put in my lap. You think God gave me 'Ain't That a Shame' to sing and 'Tutti Frutti?' Yes, I do."
No actually, Pat, it was Fats Domino who gave you "Ain't That a Shame," and Little Richard who gave you "Tutti Frutti."

What a pathetic putz. Typical Republican, doing schmaltzy, watered-down, derivative stuff and then claiming you're something original and vibrant.

6. I agree.
It's really sad, the twisted logic and verse this old fart uses.

10. It looks like this could be a real jumpstart for his career:
*snip*
Recently Boone, 70, was nicknamed the boy singer du jour.

His single, "Under God," leapt from No. 35 to No. 20 on Billboard's Hot 100 sales charts, and went gold.

(I can just see Trent Lott and the other bad boys of the GOP fist pumping to Pat)

(This one shows Boone's "street cred")

Asked what he wouldn't sing, Boone quickly rallies, "I'm not going to do songs that call women bitches and ho's."

"I've actually written a rap song called 'Backbone.' It addresses the three plagues killing young people: drugs, violence, disease-producing promiscuity."

13. I hate that motherfucker.
Pat Boone is the Antichrist of rock 'n' roll. He has been a carbunkle on the ass of my favorite music for 50 goddamned years. I hope he dies of shock when Bush gets his ass handed to him on November 2nd.

24. Kudos to you for using "carbuncle" in a sentence.
It took the likes of Pat Boone to prompt it.

17. When I was a teenager back in the 50s
I liked Elvis (he was a greaser back then) and my mother hated him. She said, "Why can't you be like Jane (a nerdy girl down the street)? She likes Pat Boone." I had a good laugh.

"You think God gave me 'Ain't That a Shame' to sing and 'Tutti Frutti?'

NO, I think you bought them from more talented African-American singer/songwriters, you whitebread hack!

20. He is an embarassment
I'm white and I get embarrassed when I hear any part of Pat Boone singing Tutti Frutti. I was a teen ager in the 50s. One of the first albums I bought was Little Richard's with Tutti Frutti on it.
White people can't jump and they ain't got rhythm.
