Dumbya was "collecting his thoughts" on 9/11 as America was under attack
Actually he was scared shitless and had NO IDEA what to do.

"Well, I had just been told by (White House Chief of Staff) Andrew Card that America was under attack. And I was collecting my thoughts," Bush said. "I think what's important is how I reacted when I realized America was under attack. It didn't take me long to figure out we were at war."

is this what the 9-11 commission meant when they reported on "lack of IMAGINATION"? Intelligent functioning people are quick on their feet.

"It didn't take me long to figure out we were at war."

"eenie meenie, chili beanie, the spirits are about to speak"

In a way, I'm glad Bush was empty-headed on 911. I'd hate to have the Chimp actually take action and try to implement whatever random thought suddenly popped into his head. He might have nuked Guam.

14. Not sure what your point is...
Except you should note that neither Kerry, Boxer, Reid, or Daschle have the authority to do anything. The President has that authority, and he sat there.
In fact, he had intelligence that something was going to happen, and he sat there.
He knew that something was going on. He'd even told a reporter that he knew. He admitted that he "saw" the first plane hit the tower, yet no footage of the first hit ever made it on the air until some time after the second plane hit, so he was either lying, or he chose to do nothing.
Like I said before. Senators don't have the authority to give the military orders. Thus, Kerry couldn't do anything. Bush did, and he chose to sit there for 7 full minutes after Card talked to him.

Like I said before: what's your point?

Must be Kerry's fault and if not it most certainly must be Clintoon's fault, because as you know the brave leader of the free world (And secret agent fighter pilot) had it well in hand.

Also there is no profile.

20. Interesting semantics
sat together at a table in a daze

You make it sound as if they all simultaneously fell under a Sleeping Beauty magiical spell of catatonia. Reminds me of the Blitzer/Woodruff/Crowley "slant, skew and spin" method of distortion.

BTW - as leaders of Congress they didn't have the legal authority to do anything more than act as observers along with the rest of America.

If you're trying to infiltrate behind enemy lines, you've already blown your cover. Better luck next time.

27. Well, before you go...
To answer your question, Kerry WASN'T the President!

What the hell can a mere senator do anyway? They have no authority to order planes to be shot down. Can't administer executive orders.

Senators just pass legislation, and there's really nothing they can do in the event of an emergency. The President, on the other hand...

You guys are just grasping at straws.

31. truth is an interesting thing... it can be many things all at once...
please note that no where does it say they saw the plane crash into tower one, LIVE... next part... "and then boom, right behind us we saw the cloud..."

Now if you saw a plane slam into a tower... would you after 45 minutes then describe it as "and then boom"?

More like Kerry saw a rebroadcast of the crash... and then boom, right behind us...

What they need to do is find the minutes for the meeting they were in and find what time the meeting concluded... then this Freeper "he sat there too" shit can be filed with the rest of the shit the RightWingers are flinging... in the toilet

32. About the meeting
Couldn't think about the meeting. Geesh. He couldn't do anything about the planes, nobody could. There's nothing worse than having a catastrophe going on around you and not have the authority to do anything about it. Bush is the only one who had the authority and he sat in a school for an hour. Totally outrageous.

21. My LTTE
Yes, it actually is about much more than 7 minutes. (I was wrong) Even if we just stick to competence and not LIHOP. I was going to write a short letter and needed to check the timeline, there was a complete breakdown on 9/11. Here's the letter I ended up with:

All I know is that hundreds of firefighters, police officers and EMT's knew what to do on 9/11. It didn't take no seven minutes for them to "collect their thoughts", as George Bush recently stated on CNN.

But Bush's inaction for those 7 minutes isn't the only lapse in leadership on the morning of September 11. Bush didn't enter the classroom until shortly after 9:00. By that time, not only had the first plane hit the towers, the hijackings of Flights 11, 175 and 77 were known by the Pentagon. If the President didn't know, he should have known and never should have went into that school. In any event, he was notified of the second attack around 9:05. While the Secret Service immediately evacuated Vice President Cheney, reportedly "carried him under his arms - nearly lifting him off the ground", they did nothing to protect the President or the children at Emma E. Booker school. And while the Michael Moore video shows President Bush sitting in the classroom for 7 minutes after the second tower was hit, it doesn't show what happened next. He left the classroom at approximately 9:15, about the time NORAD was notified of the hijacking of Flight 93, the 4th plane hijacked. He inexpicably stayed in that school until 9:30 AM, at which time he spoke regarding the attack. So he didn't want to upset the children by excusing himself, but he turned right around, surrounded himself with those same school children, and addressed the nation about terrorist attacks.

Perhaps you think Bush was discussing security issues from the school in those 15 minutes. It doesn't appear so. At about 9:26, it was either FAA head Jane Garvey or FAA administrator Ben Sliney (and not Bush) who decided to halt all airplane takeoffs in the US. The shooting down of hijacked airplanes was not discussed at this time either. That discussion was not broached until approximately 9:55, when Bush was aboard Air Force One. By 9:35, Bush's motorcade was ready to take him to the Sarasota airport where Air Force One was waiting. At 9:37, Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. As some fighter pilots have stated, their being in the air really didn't matter since the President is the only one who can order a civilian plane shot down and he was sitting in an elementary school at the time.

We are not just talking about a lapse of 7 minutes here. We are talking about a complete failure of command for at least an hour. By 8:50, the Pentagon knew that the first tower had been hit and that 3 airplanes had likely been hijacked. It wasn't until a full hour later that the President had any serious discussions, with Vice President Cheney, about security measures to be taken.

Some people want to dismiss this as Monday morning quarterbacking. Well folks, this isn't a football game. This is the guy with THE football, the hand on the button. A President doesn't have to get everything right, but he sure has to get the security of this country right and get it right the first time. Bush failed on the morning of 9/11, he failed at Tora Bora, he's failed in Iraq time and again.

The vast majority of Americans finally realize George Bush isn't capable of implementing sound economic policies for this country, it's time they face the hard truth that he isn't capable of implementing sound security policies for this country either. There's no shame in not being fit to be President, most of us aren't. George Bush isn't fit to be President anymore than I am. Time for a change.

23. Well written.
Yes, the focus on the 7 minutes is the wrong focus. It is the nearly one hour that the Pres. of the US took no action to protect the USA. This is a failure on a grand scale. If the US would have had a Congress that is not controlled by Repubs an impeachment might have taken place. It should have taken place. This Pres. is a failure! He failed to act and he lied to the American people about his illegal invasion of Iraq! This Pres. is unfit for the office!

37. I didn't
I put in there that the Pentagon knew of 3 hijackings and the first plane BEFORE Bush went in in the building. Storytime from 9-9:15. And the statement to the country at 9:30, with all those little kiddies standing around that he was so worried about just a few minutes before. 9:30 is the time the original photo-op was scheduled for. I got it all in there. It was a full hour of complete failure of command.

39. "collecting his thoughts" my ass...he can't think...Karl Rove does his
thinking...

Who is Bush's brain? Karl Rove is, according to a new book chronicling the political life of the Machiavelli behind the throne of King George.

BuzzFlash is currently offering a book about Karl Rove as a premium. Why? The answer is simple: know your enemy. Rove may be evil, but he is an evil genius. Freedom loving Americans ignore him at their peril. Rove never graduated from a college, but he is a masterful three-dimensional chess player, albeit working for the forces of radical extremism. Rove runs circles around the Democratic leadership. He's a bear hunter who knows how to bait and trap with the best of them.

It's too bad he is the most powerful man in Washington, working on behalf of the forces of evil. Karl Rove would do Lucifer proud.
