I wish Tenet waited a couple more months to resign.
Now we wouldn't have this problem if he did. Do you think that the senate and the CIA will block Goss?

1. Hell, no. the appointment is a slam-dunk for now...
Just as will be his firing in February by President Kerry. Don't let the SOB's distract us with side-issues. We have better wars to fight.

3. Why would Kerry allow a partisan Republican to remain in that position
unless he truly believes that Goss is the best man for the job? A newly-elected president could replace a recently appointed CIA director easily if he feels it is necessary. If he doesn't, well, that's his choice.

What would Kerry stand to lose buy firing a man who had openly and strongly bashed him only a few months previously?

Porter Goss is not "the hill I want to die on". Help yourself, but I'd rather save my ammunition for a more important fight.

4. The director before Tenet was quite a prick
but Clinton tolerated him for quite a long while.
