Franks takes blame for 'mission accomplished'
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Retired Gen. Tommy Franks tried to take the blame Monday for President Bush's much-criticized comments declaring an end to major combat in Iraq more than a year ago.

"That's my fault, that George W. Bush said what he said on the first of May of last year, just because I asked him to," said Franks, former commander of forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.

3. Nothing is ever W's fault: One would almost think others tell him what to
say and do, almost as if he were a puppet on a string. Scary indeed, but give credit where credit is due for: W is tough on terrorism, commies, crime, and drugs, a strong war President who brings a veritable plethora of incredibly outstanding intangibles to the table. Never mind the despoiled environment, economy, value of the dollar, stock markets, and international goodwill, treaties, and alliances for these are such small prices to pay to have all those incredible intangibles in one fearless leader.
